THE COMPANY

This MNC is advancing steadily within the commodities market. With their established network and strong growth plans, they seek for a new headcount, Accountant for their Accounting team.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

• Full sets of Accounting (including income tax/GST)
• Analyze the monthly variances/perform monthly reconciliation of P&L (including marked-to-market/MTM accounting)
• Month end closing
• Liaise with auditors and IRAS etc.
• Work with other stakeholders (Finance, Treasury, Operations and Traders etc.)
• Any other adhoc duties

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Degree in Accountancy/Accounting/Commerce or ACCA or any other relevant education

Our client is a prominent and global player in the maritime sector. There is now a need for the business to hire an experienced and meticulous finance professional to be part of their dynamic finance team as an Accountant.

Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting and Analysis:

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in compliance with accounting standards.
• Conduct financial analysis to identify trends, variances, and insights to support decision-making.
• Generate reports on financial performance, budgets, and forecasts.

Accounts Payable and Receivable:

• Oversee and process accounts payable and receivable transactions, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Reconcile accounts and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Prepare and manage invoices, payment schedules, and collections.

General Ledger and Journal Entries:

• Maintain and reconcile the general ledger.
• Prepare and post journal entries to ensure all business transactions are accurately recorded.
• Conduct month-end and year-end close processes.

Tax Compliance:

• Prepare and submit tax filings, including corporate tax returns, sales tax, and VAT, as applicable.
• Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal tax regulations.
• Work with external auditors and tax advisors to coordinate audits and tax returns.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

• Assist in the development and monitoring of budgets, forecasts, and financial projections.
• Track and report on budget variances and provide explanations for deviations.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

• Ensure adherence to accounting policies and internal controls.
• Regularly review financial practices for compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of improved accounting procedures and policies.

Financial Systems:

• Manage accounting software and systems to ensure data integrity.
• Assist in upgrading or migrating financial software as needed.
• Train and support other team members on financial systems and best practices.

Special Projects and Additional Duties:

• Participate in special projects and financial analyses as required.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or ACCA qualified.
• Experience: 3 years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a similar industry.
• Certification: CPA, CMA, or relevant certification is a plus.
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in accounting software and highly familiar with SAP ERP Systems, Microsoft Excel, and sound knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS)
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
• Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in work and strong attention to detail.
• Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Oversee account payable processing, accounting transactions, and conduct related accounts analysis, financial report preparation, stock taking.
• Lead month-end and year-end closing procedures, and prepare financial reports.
• Maintain accurate accounting records for internal reports and handle GST-related documentation.
• Post expenses, process employee reimbursements, and resolve payment issues efficiently.
• Administer withholding tax, ensuring timely submission and payment to Inland Revenue Authority of Singapore.

• Preferably with at least 1 year of working experience in an audit firm.
• Experience in GST and withholding tax is an added advantage.
• Self-motivated, highly responsible, and capable of working independently and in a team.
• Strong communication skills, effective problem-solving ability, and resilience in overcoming work challenges.
• Exceptional attention to detail and the ability to meet tight deadlines.
• Proficient in MS Office, especially MS Excel and MS PowerPoint.
