Job Overview
This leadership role is responsible for overseeing the financial operations and accounting functions within the Finance & Accounting department, ensuring good financial health, accuracy, compliance, and alignment with business objectives. It involves strategic financial planning, advising senior management on financial decisions by providing financial insights and recommendations, managing financial risk, and driving financial efficiency and profitability. Other than managing a group of financial professionals in the department, the role is also required to lead and implement robust financial controls and processes to support business needs.
The successful incumbent in this role will be someone who has strong combination of technical finance and accounting expertise, strategic financial thinking, leadership ability, stakeholder managements, and a deep business understanding of the business’s financial needs.
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, the specific responsibilities and requirements for this position are:-
Job Responsibilities
- Provide strategic business plan recommendations based on analysis of company conditions and financial forecasts.
- Support management in setting the company's strategic plan for ESG and business objectives and prepare the company's annual and long-term financial strategies accordingly.
- Ensure the availability of funds required for the company's operations; manage relationships with financial institutions, and source funds at the optimum prices and lowest risk.
- Perform financial management duties, including generating financial data, compiling and submitting reports, analyzing industry trends, and assessing the financial health of the company.
- Maintain adequate records of the company's financial transactions. Supervise the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual account reconciliations, monitor and enforce compliance with tax and financial reporting standards, and assist with cash flow forecasting.
- Ensure the adequacy of financial information technology, systems and internal control to safeguard the company's assets.
- Oversee the operations and development of the Finance & Accounting department, including creating and reviewing policies, budgeting, recruiting, training, and conducting regular assessments of financial procedures.
- Advise the management on decisions related to the company's finances.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
- At least a bachelor’s degree in trading, economics, finance, accounting or relevant fields.
- At least 13 years working experience in finance and accounting related roles, of which at least 8 years have been in finance leadership positions.
- Preferably to have or have had extensive experience in Commodity and/or Energy Trading companies.
- Has excellent interpersonal, communication and stakeholder management skills. This includes being able to develop commendable working relationships with different stakeholders of all levels both internally and externally of the Company.
- Highly adaptable in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
- Possess strong business acumen and numeracy skills complemented with having the experience in being able to comfortably connect and align finance strategies to business strategies and priorities.
- Proficient in and comfortable with the Chinese language (both written and verbal). The selected candidate will at times be required to converse in Chinese with colleagues in and from Headquarters (HQ) and will be needed to prepare and submit reports in Chinese to Headquarters.
