In this role you would be a proactive member of the Department in ensuring the smooth operation of the book of accounts, accurate and timely recording of business transactions and production of relevant reports as well as providing ad hoc support for planning and analysis.

Tertiary qualification in Accounting/Finance is a must and working experience in the shipping industry is of advantage. You should also be able to exchange information clearly and concisely and have high attention to detail. You should further have outstanding time management competency and be able to work in a fast-moving environment.

Responsibilities:

• Cash flow:
• Timely update of actual receipts for cash flow report
• Transaction processing:
• Process customer invoices on a timely basis
• Recording of sales commission for subsidiary offices
• Accounting for intercompany transactions
• Provide statement of accounts for customers
• Analysis:
• Prepare analysis of daily receipts
• Compliance:
• Prepare analysis and reconciliation for audits
• Provide support in tax compliance

Qualification and Personal Requirement:

• 3 - 5 years working experience in a similar role in the shipping industry.
• Minimum diploma in accounting or a business-related discipline.
• Qualification such as CAT or ACCA is an advantage.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
• Knowledge of IMOS (voyage management software) is an advantage.
• Keen interest in understanding the business of the company.
• Ability to communicate clearly, accurately and concisely.
• Highly attentive to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment;

Your new role:

You will be responsible for preparing and issuing invoices, credit/debit notes, and statements of accounts. You will manage both accounts receivable (AR) and accounts payable (AP), including overseeing AR collections and AP payments. You will perform monthly AR and AP reconciliations as well as to check and verify staff claims. You will also provide support to the Finance Manager in the monthly and yearly account closing process, filing various documentations, ensuring that all records are organized and easily accessible for future reference.

Requirements:

• Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience.

• Good written and verbal communication.

• Experience in petrochemical / energy industry would be a valuable asset.

Job Description

· Ensure timely, accurate month-end closing and annual financial reporting of full set accounts including AP, AR and GL, reconciliation, etc.

· Filing of GST monthly

· Liaise with auditor and tax agent

· Process purchase orders and prepare invoices and/or delivery orders for local and overseas customers

· Liaise with logistics provider on delivery schedule to ensure items are delivered in a timely manner

· Internal coordination with purchasing, sales and warehouse team to track shipment status

· Liaising with transportation and shipping companies to ensure timely shipment clearance

· Ensure proper documentation of damaged/defective items received from suppliers, and follow up with suppliers for claims

· Conduct monthly stock-taking and prepare report of inventory status

· Filing and updating of administrative records

· Handle other ad-hoc duties as assigned

Requirements

· Min. 2 years of accounting/audit experience

· Proficient with Microsoft Excel/Office, a bonus if proficient with SAP Business One
