Duties & Responsibilities:
The Accounts Assistant is responsibile for handling various accounting functions with a primary focus on accounts payable, regulatory authority reconciliation, vendor payments, financial reporting, and supporting audits.
- Credit Control - Following up with clients on payment of bills, liaising with Partners on payment promises from clients and updating all comments on the finance management system
- Accounts payable - Payment of supplier invoices, staff expense claims and disbursements; Payments prepared by cheques and bank transfers; Posting of all vouchers and payments; Handling of petty cash for the office; Manage the weekly payment process, including sending office account payment instructions
- Accounts receivables - Running billing guides and preparing bills, liaising with Partners and secretaries for accurate billing to the client and posting of receipts.
- Financial Reporting - Perform monthly bank reconciliation for Office USD account; Assist in monthly AP reports printing and reconciliation; Assist with year-end closing duties, including preparing accounts payable accrual journal entries, etc.
- Audit Support - Support the year-end audit process; Manage accounts payable audit confirmation and prepare necessary audit working papers
- Adhoc Support - Assist with miscellaneous queries and tasks from the Finance Manager/Office Manager
Attributes/Skills required
The successful candidate will be:
· Accurate with strong attention to detail
· Strong working knowledge of MS Excel
· Able to gain credibility and build professional relationships within the office
· Tenacious with a proven ability to follow through on tasks and projects
· Able to think strategically and creatively with the ability to see through longer term projects and initiatives
· Conscientious and self-motivated whilst being a strong team player
· Friendly, outgoing and approachable and able to build rapport with people quickly
Education and Experience
· LCCI / Diploma in Accounting or equivalent
· This role would suit someone who has an interest in Legal Accounting with 1-2 years’ relevant experience
· Has used legal accounting software preferably in an international law firm environment but this is not essential
· Full training will be provided
