RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead in the development and execution of communications projects, initiatives and global media partnerships in support of SMU’s engaged city university strategic thrust.
• Enhancing SMU’s brand and reputation regionally through the University’s overseas centres, the role will provide support through strategic communications and media publicity planning, and work with partners on the execution of plans.
• Develop compelling content that clearly conveys the meaningful impact SMU makes through its education, research and global engagement, with focus on its three strategic priorities to realise SMU Vision 2025.
• Internal communications, the role will develop strategic plans, write and oversee the preparation of SMU President’s communications to the University community.
• Oversee the creative conceptualising, planning and production of the University’s annual report and corporate newsletter.
• Other duties include conducting research, developing, writing and editing a wide variety of materials including quotes, video scripts, speeches, talking points, background materials, narratives, opinion-editorial and thought leadership pieces.
• Principal Counsel on comms and media publicity matters to School of Accountancy and School of Social Sciences, and to Office of Partnerships and Engagement and its affiliate offices, Office of Overseas Centres and its affiliate offices, Office of Advancement, SMU Libraries and Dato’ Kho Hui Meng Career Centre.

• A bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, literature, communications, creative writing, or a similar discipline.
• A master’s degree is preferable.
• Keen interest in current affairs, and geopolitical and socio-economic issues and is also intellectually curious.
• Positive attitude with the ability to pivot quickly to changes.
• A good understanding of public speaking, aware of language subtleties and always crafts speeches as well as messages with the audience in mind.
• Excellent research skills and ability to work independently.
• Strong strategic, analytical thinking skills, with demonstrated excellence in creating, articulating and presenting ideas.
• Exceptional writing, editing and oral communications skills – ability to produce compelling content for internal and external audiences to achieve desired results.
• Strong organisational skills with ability to successfully manage multiple assignments simultaneously and at speed while collaborating with multiple teams across the university.
• Experience in integrated communications, including knowledge of earned, paid, owned and shared media.
• Creative, state-of-the-art communications knowledge who understands emerging technologies, communication best practices, and has a passion for exploring new methods of communicating.
• Social media proficiency, along with familiarity with web-based communication.
• Ability to remain resilient and work well under pressure as this role must deliver high-quality communications under tight deadlines, with excellent attention to detail.
• Demonstrated leadership as well as teamwork and collaboration in a professional setting.

Ensure system is up and running 24 X 7

Support user query or address any performance issue either with users query or system performance

Key Requirements

• Experience in managing large hadoop cluster with Cloudera CDH and CDP

• Experience in plan and execution of major and minor upgrades of Cloudera CDH and CDP

• Experience in administering various services within CDP including adding/deleting of nodes, supporting hardware replacements

• Posses good understanding of external tools integration with hadoop (qlik, PowerBI, SAS and Informatica)

• Experience in LDAP, SSHD and KRB authentications

• Experience in performing POC for open-source applications and tools

• Experience in performance tuning of various hadoop services and support end users in tuning application codes

• Backup and restore of various service components of hadoop cluster

• Certification in Cloudera CDH/CDP

• Scripting knowledge in Bash, Python and Perl, to automate and avoid repetitive tasks.

We are looking for a junior executive assistant to be a supportive force that empowers our senior leadership. The ideal person for the job will be a proactive problem solver with strong communication skills and meticulous attention to detail. He/she will have previous experience working in an office environment, performing administrative duties, and providing support to management. Given the changing nature of the executive landscape, we rely on our assistants for flexibility and foresight, while maintaining confidences related to high-level systems and operations.

Objectives of this Role

• With a primary responsibility of supporting the global leadership, provide support to the executive team as directed to ensure that company goals and objectives are accomplished, and operations run efficiently
• Maintain and refine internal processes that support executives company-wide, coordinating internal and external resources to expedite workflow
• Manage communication between upper management and employees, liaising with internal and external executives on various projects and tasks
• Plan and orchestrate work to ensure the senior executives’ priorities are met, organizational goals are achieved, and best practices are upheld

Responsibilities

Support the Executive Assistant and the global leadership group with activities such as:

Admin

• Planning of travel, calendar management for management-level executives
• Assisting in organizing and coordinating events and communications
• Checking company email accounts and redirect requests to the applicable functions
• Owning process for application and renewal of work passes
• Liaising with government bodies, e.g. ESG and MOM

Operations

• Drive onboarding of new employees on to Antler’s systems and troubleshoot when access issues occur
• Act as the main point of contact for G Suite related admin
• Ownership of the Google Workspace, including but not limited to management and cleaning of Google emails, setting up Shared Drive folders and mailing groups

Office Management

• Support in maintaining the office condition and arrange necessary repairs
• Manage contract and price negotiations with office vendors and service providers
• Address employees' queries regarding office management issues (e.g. stationery, Hardware, and travel arrangements)

· Answer incoming calls and perform other receptionist duties when needed

· Apply, maintain and update outlets’ relevant licences, (SFA, Electrical license, Music License, Liquor Licence etc.)

· Render administrative support to CEO and Business Planning Managers

· Assist Business Planning Managers for the setting up of new outlets and closure of outlets

· Maintain proper filing and disposal of confidential document

· Order office supplies, Stationary and research new deals and suppliers

· Run company’s errands to post office, SFA, SP services and office supply store

· Coordinates and organizes department meetings and conferences including meeting venue bookings, catering requirements, sets up the room and any other requirements of department meetings;

· Performs clerical functions such as preparing correspondence, receiving visitors, arranging courier services etc.

· Any other ad-hoc duties assigned.

• Be involved in the organisation and operations of major strategic events undertaken by the unit, including front line responsibilities like hospitality during events, ushering of VIPs/guests.
• Be aware of the current general topical issues locally, regionally and globally, and be able to effectively connect these general issues to the overall SMU key strategic initiatives.
• Able to propose and write persuasively on relevant topics/synopsis and connect the relevant internal and external speakers for OCCM’s thought leadership platforms.
• Able to propose the use of the appropriate platforms and formats for thought leadership events; effectively and efficiently organise thought leadership events on virtual platforms and/or hybrid events (a combination of virtual and physical format). Able to propose and use, where appropriate and when applicable, multi-platforms for an effective marketing reach.

• Diploma / Degree with at least 3 to 5 years of working experience.
• Recent graduates may apply.
