The Systems Engineer requires to perform daily systems administration-related activities, ensure systems operate in a manner that meet business needs, and liaise with relevant parties and stakeholders in the service management and operations. The role may also require to be on standby (i.e. on-call remotely and on-site) after office hours, including weekends and public holidays to support the services, maintenance activities and service recovery.
Operations
• Performs daily systems administration-related activities and ensure service availability to users;
• Performs systems hardening, on-going optimisation and maintenance of system components such as software updates and upgrades;
• Maintain documentation of the system and keeping track of all the changes;
• Gather performance and data usage statistics for capacity planning and monthly reporting;
• Performs review and manage the system access controls;
• Monitor systems performance and events, implement remedial actions in the event of system failure;
• Conduct system backups, optimisation, initiation of recovery procedures and routine troubleshooting; and
• Liaise with relevant parties in the service recovery and prevent service disruption
Projects/Service Enhancement
• Required to involve with the development of new systems and participate in new system testing and implementation;
• Involved in piloting of new tools, technologies and processes;
• Create systems documentation which records modifications and developments carried out; and
• Maintain technical documentation for the systems, process flows, operating procedures, administrative checklists and guides.
Requirements:
a) Comfortable working in a fast paced and demanding environment, agile in adapting to new changes and excellence at prioritising tasks;
b) Familiar with various IT infrastructure technologies such as servers, firewalls and network;
c) Ability to work independently and collaborate with co-workers in meeting the business goals;
d) Exhibits excellent attention to detail and is meticulous in the execution of tasks; and

Qualification:
a) Possess a Professional certificate/NITEC/Diploma in Computer Engineering/Information Technology or equivalent;
b) At least FOUR (4) years of experiences in implementing and maintaining IT systems;
c) At least TWO (2) years of IT experiences with Linux operating systems and scripting in PERL or Python; and
d) Prior experiences in firewall administration is preferred.
