Purpose of the post

We are seeking a skilled Research Assistant to support our advanced research in developing new methodologies utilising cutting-edge automation approach to unveil the complex connection between microbial population and human health. The successful candidate will primarily be responsible for sample preparation, single-cell isolation workflow optimization, and novel bacterial species characterisation. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work with state-of-the-art single-cell dispensing platform, develop expertise in high-output nanopore sequencing, and contribute to impactful scientific research.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

This role will suit an individual passionate about microbiology and omics study to understand host-microbes interactions. The RA will be able to:

1. conduct wet lab experiments;
2. Assist in the isolation, characterisation, and genomic analysis of bacterial samples;
3. Prepare research findings for publications, reports, and presentations;
4. Undertake the day-to-day running of the project and collaborate with team members in supporting lab operation;

We are looking for a research assistant with two main roles. The RA will assist with basic laboratory experiments including mouse phenotyping, protein biochemistry, molecular biology and cell culture in the laboratory of Dr. Roshni Singaraja in the CVDM TRP. At the same time, the RA will be working with CVMD TRP admin lead with a blend of administrative duties related to laboratory work and coordination of day-to-day operation at the bench.

Job Scope

The Department of History at the National University of Singapore invites applications for a tenure-track position, beginning in August 2025, at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The successful candidate will have a completed PhD degree in History, and have a strong research agenda rooted in World History, with no preference for regions. Candidates should have an international profile commensurate with their rank and stage of career. The Department is particularly interested in applicants with research interests and accomplishments in one or more of the following subfields: gender; science, technology, and society; environment; the ancient world; and international relations. A demonstrated ability to contribute effectively to teaching Introduction to World History as well as more specialized courses for broad undergraduate audiences in the College of the Humanities and Sciences and the Department’s M.A. students.
