Position: Research Assistant (Bachelor degree/Master level)
Contract: 4 months

We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant (RA) to support a multidisciplinary project that investigates prevention strategies for dengue and Covid-19 in Singapore (https://www.cnrsatcreate.cnrs.fr/space/). The research emphasizes the transformative role of digital technologies and AI in public health management.

Tasks:

• Conduct literature reviews on the use of digital technologies and AI applications in public health, focusing on dengue and Covid-19 prevention, monitoring, and control.
• Assist with data collection through interviews with stakeholders (public health officials, tech developers, researchers) and through document analysis of government reports, policies, and relevant publications.
• Support comparative analysis of prevention strategies, focusing on digital technologies (mobile apps, AI, IoT, drones) used in different countries.
• Analyze secondary health data (e.g. dengue incidence rates, app usage statistics, etc.) and integrate qualitative findings from interviews.
• Assist in preparing academic manuscripts, policy briefs, and presentations.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor's or Master's degree in public health, geography, urban studies, data science, or a related field.

· Experience with qualitative research methods.

· Strong interest in digital technologies, AI, and public health in Asia.

· Proficiency in literature reviews, data analysis, and report writing.

· Excellent communication skills and the ability to work in a collaborative environment.

Preferred skills:

· Knowledge of health policies and urban public health challenges in Asia.

• Familiarity with research ethics, especially in relation to interviews or handling public health data
• Familiarity with Southeast Asian contexts, especially Singapore and neighboring countries.
• Proficiency in English, both written and spoken, is essential. Proficiency in additional languages spoken in Southeast Asia would be a plus, though not required.

Job Description

This is an operational position within the Asia Centre for Health Security (ACHS). The incumbent will be part of the team to support the core functions of the centre. Their duties would include administration, education and training, collaboration and partnership, and secretariat functions.

Duties & Responsibilities
Working under the direction of the Director and Head of Operations at the ACHS, the Assistant Manager will be part of the team to support the core duties of the centre:
a) Centre Administration
- Point of contact between researchers and various administration departments to support the management of research projects
- Support researchers to draft, review, negotiate and execute research agreements by working closely with researchers, collaborators and internal and external legal offices
- Liaise and support the centre's leads and research staff to meet the centre's objectives of the centre
- Support finance administration, payment and procurement and secretariat duties; tracking and reporting; and communications

b) Education and Training inclusive of the Tabletop Simulation Exercises for Health Security Preparedness and Response; and the convening of meetings and roundtables
- Support Centre Leads in organising training activties, including the tabletop simulation exercise and convening of meetings and roundtables. The responsibilities include event management, registration, on the ground support, liaising with international participants and logistics arrangements including organising venue, travel and room bookings
- Administrative support for the establishment of the ACHS fellowship program in health security
- On the ground support for public seminars, workshops, courses and training held in person and online

c) Collaboration & Partnership
- Liaise and work closely with local, regional and international partners and collaborators, this includes providing support for policy roundtables and panel discussions and the building a network of experienced experts in health security

d) Provide secretariat support for the centre (Faculty Meetings, International Advisory Panel), this includes arranging of meetings, preparation of slides, notes of meeting, communication and dissemination of information, and collation of reports

e) Work closely with other offices in the school, e.g. finance, HR, IT and GHO and university, e.g. OLA, ODPRT, CPO to take forward all administrative tasks, including discussion, collaboration and problem-solving on complem situations

f) Other duties assigned by the Director or Head, Operations

Qualifications

• Applicants are expected to have at least a Bachelor degree from a recognised institution with at least five years of experience in an administrative position within the academic, research or healthcare sector
• Strong administrative skills and experience in supporting projects such as convening meetings, organise training and workshops, service contracts, financial administration, or equivalent experience
• Experience organising events, in-person and online is a requirement
• Excellent written and oral communciation skills, with the ability to summarise content, prepare slides, reports and content

Job Description

The Department of Japanese Studies and the Department of Chinese Studies at the National University of Singapore jointly invite applications for the post of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in East Asian Media and Film Studies. The successful candidate will be jointly appointed in both departments, with a higher weightage in the department their research focuses more on.

The successful applicant will be expected to have a strong commitment to a) teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels; b) providing supervision to undergraduate and graduate students and c) undertaking research in East Asian Media and Film Studies and other related fields; as well as d) playing an active role in both Departments’ curriculum and development. • Cover front desk customer service duties for Primary School and MOE Kindergarten.
