The Role
The Perse School (Singapore), is seeking a resourceful and forward-thinking Part-Time Art Teacher to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to express themselves through art, fostering creativity, skill development, and an appreciation for various artistic techniques and styles. The Art Teacher will work closely with students of varying age groups and backgrounds, providing instruction that aligns with the school's curriculum and international standards.
Key Responsibilites:
- Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate art lessons for students across various grade levels.
Introduce students to a variety of art forms and techniques, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, and digital art.
- Encourage creativity, self-expression, and critical thinking through hands-on projects and activities.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment where all students can explore and develop their artistic talents.
- Collaborate with the academic team to ensure that the art curriculum aligns with school standards and international educational frameworks.
- Assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and tracking individual development.
- Adapt lesson plans based on the diverse needs of students, ensuring lessons are accessible to learners with different backgrounds and skill levels.
- Maintain a positive, respectful, and well-organized classroom environment.
Set clear expectations for behavior and work with students to manage their art materials responsibly.
- Ensure that all art supplies and equipment are stored safely and appropriately.
- Organize and participate in school exhibitions, art shows, and events to showcase student work.
Promote the importance of art in the broader school community, including collaborating with other teachers and participating in interdisciplinary projects.
- Encourage students to appreciate and learn about global art movements, history, and cultural diversity.
- Stay updated with current trends in art education and explore new methods, materials, and technologies.
- Participate in relevant school meetings, workshops, and training sessions to continuously improve teaching practices.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Art Education, or a related field.
- Teaching certification or relevant teaching qualification.
- Prior experience as an art teacher, preferably in an international school setting (preferred).
- Strong understanding of various art techniques and materials.
- Ability to teach and engage students from diverse cultural backgrounds and varying levels of artistic ability.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Desirable Skills:
- Knowledge of international school curricula.
- Experience with digital art or technology integration in the art classroom.
- Ability to organize art exhibitions or school art-related events.
- Creativity, patience, and a passion for teaching.
This role will commence in January 2025.
