Job Description:
Perform process engineering work and lead design teams in both local and international projects with varying
degrees of complexity and total installed cost and deliver the project scope to the agreed quality, cost and
schedule.
● Perform design tasks according to the agreed quality, scope, time and safety in our investment projects across all project phases from idea creation, pre-study and feasibility study via basic engineering to detailed engineering and As Built phase. In addition, participate in pre-commissioning, commissioning and start-up phases
● Solve problems proactively together with site maintenance, operations, technical and other refinery
disciplines / site SPAs
● Develop, implement and apply defined design engineering work methods and tools systematically
● Manage own performance, and the performance of the work share partners, provide necessary inputs and
guidance as a design specialist of own process engineering
● Develop oneself in process technical competence and leading design work and workshare partners, or
towards becoming a design specialist of your own engineering discipline.
● Collaborate and network with other design disciplines, workshare partners, suppliers and customers .
● Participate in TO conceptual studies or other development works as required.
Primary responsibilities for this role at investment project level are (but not limited to) the following
● Perform process engineering independently according to relevant local and international codes in an
international environment and prepare or check process deliverables such as Basis of Design (BoD),
Process Design criteria, Heat and Material Balances (HMBs), Block flow diagrams (BFDs), Process Flowdiagrams (PFDs), Utility Flow Diagrams, Process and Instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), process
description, utility balances / summary, process datasheets for equipment and instruments, fluids and
chemical list, equipment list, line list, tie-in list, fire risk analysis, Operating and control philosophy,
Operating manual, Precom, Comm and Start-up manual, Emergency Shutdown philosophy, isolation
philosophy, etc.
● Prepare necessary calculations using relevant softwares and applications such as PIPENET, Aspen etc
● Prepare purchase requisitions, perform technical evaluations as required
● Participate and lead project reviews such as P&ID reviews, participate in HAZID / HAZOP sessions
● Participate and contribute to project sessions such as BoD review, cost and profitability review, early
value engineering, VOC studies, process simulation / modelling, 3D model reviews, constructability
reviews etc.
● Participate and contribute to project sessions such as schedule reviews, PEP reviews etc.
● Conduct site surveys as necessary to gather the relevant information for brownfield project scope. Plan
and facilitate necessary studies and carry out investigations needed in a project
● Provide technical support to other engineering disciplines such as vendor document reviews, hazardous
area classification, material selection diagrams,
● Lead the design team for process through all phases of the project when appointed as the project lead
● Plan and manage the resource allocation for the projects for which you are the lead together with the
resource managers
● Manage the performance of own team members including those of external partners if assigned to the
project. Plan the workload and resource allocations for all team members through all project phases.
● Prepare manhour estimates and support project planning as required
● Work with the PM / EM in developing the project baseline (cost, schedule and execution plan) provide
comments to the baseline documents as required
● Establish proper controls and monitor progress to ensure project execution is in line with the baseline
● Ensure that project deliverables for each phase are prepared in a timely manner
● Provide engineering support in resolving site queries and site issues
● Participate in mechanical completion walk downs and Pre-startup safety reviews, Post startup reviews,
lessons learnt sessions, project closeout.
Requirements:
● Bachelor's or Master's engineering degree in chemical, or similar
● Proven experience of at least 10-12 years on a similar job, with 5 years in a senior role,
preferably also inside the fence of industrial clients
● Strong focus on project delivery skills, developing new ways of working and driving change
are close to your heart
● Ability to recognize opportunities and respond to client needs, network easily with a variety
of stakeholders
● Excellent communication skills in English (mandatory), other languages such as Finnish,
Dutch are an advantage
● Strong leadership skills, hands-on mentality and desire to further develop in your role and
grow with the team
● Understanding the challenges and complexities of a growing organization in an
international environment is a bonus
● Contract role till Dec 2024
