Main Roles and Responsibilities
- Provide academic leadership and support in the management and delivery of assigned modules for the Faculty of Art and Design, which include:
a. Undertaking 20-24 contact/teaching hours per week in the field of design, including facilitating collaborative and interdisciplinary practice
b. Designing, preparing, and developing module/teaching materials
c. Contributing towards the review of curriculum and academic activities
d. Maintaining records relating to students’ progress, performance, and attendance
e. Supervising and assessing students’ assignments/works/projects
- Performing administrative duties as expected of an academic staff
a. Mentor and provide pastoral care and support to students, identify high risk cases and highlight these cases to the Associate Dean and/or counsellor
b. Provide career guidance and Industry-based learning (IBL) supervision
c. Assist in the planning and organisation of a variety of activities, such as industry collaboration, exhibitions, talks, Open House or any internal/external events
d. Establish and maintain links with the industry and institutions to foster a holistic approach of intellectual discourse alongside industry practice
- Keep up to date on the development of discipline-related teaching practices and learning strategies
- Contribute to collaboration and research, preferably in the area of interdisciplinarity
- Engage and teach in other courses within the Faculty of Art and Design or across the Academy as appropriate, if required
- Perform academic/administrative duties as assigned from time to time
Requirements
1. Minimum Master’s degree in a Design discipline
2. Minimum 8 years of extensive academic and/or industry experience
3. Positive, enthusiastic, and results-oriented with the ability to engage students in their learning
4. Able to perform in a fast-paced environment, to adapt, multi-task and meet deadlines
5. A team player with excellent communication, interpersonal, presentation and writing skills
6. Strong track record of research/practice, with actual or potential for research output in your chosen field, preferably of interdisciplinary nature
7. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
