How to succeed in this role
The Role & Responsibilities
Design Development & Execution
- Design Conceptualization: Engage in all phases of the design process, from initial concept development through to final design approvals, keeping in mind project scope, client specifications and budget.
- Design Presentation: Present design proposals and mood boards to clients, effectively communicating design intent and directions.
- Material Selection: Choose appropriate materials, finishes, and furnishings that meet aesthetic, functional, and client specifications.
- Detail Execution: Ensure designs are planned and construction detail drawings are produced to meet practical execution requirements.
- Project Oversight: Collaborate with the Project Manager and Accounts Manager to ensure project timelines are adhered to and coordination with various stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and suppliers, are timely and on budget.
- Quality Control: Oversee works to ensure they are completed to design specifications.
- Adjustments and Modifications: Handle proactive on-site adjustments to address any discrepancies or improvements needed, ensuring the final output aligns with the original vision.
Client Relations
- Communication: Act as the primary point of contact for clients, interpreting their needs and translating them into compelling design solutions.
- Relationship Management: Work with the Accounts Manager to maintain and strengthen client relationships through regular, effective communication and exceptional service delivery.
What you’ll need to succeed
Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
- CAD Skills: Demonstrate proficiency in computer-aided design (CAD) software to create accurate and detailed drawings.
- Detailed Design Plans: Produce comprehensive and detailed working drawings that outline all aspects of the design including floor plans, elevations, sections and detailed construction drawings that follow industry standards.
- 3D Modeling and Visualization: Utilize CAD software to develop 3D models and visualizations that provide a realistic representation of the designed spaces to clients, contractors and the design team.
- Material Specifications: Compile detailed specifications for materials, finishes, and furnishings including all necessary information for procurement and installation.
- Collaborative Revisions: Work closely with the design team, clients, and contractors to update and revise technical documents as needed and ensure that all stakeholders have access to the most current plans.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in interior design, with a portfolio showcasing a wide range of residential and commercial projects and detailed construction drawings.
- Strong proficiency in AutoCAD, SketchUp (or other 3D modelling software), 3DS Max or V-Ray
- Proficiency in interpreting design specifications and quotations, with the capability to generate quotations being an added advantage.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts clearly to clients and team members.
- Creative thinking and problem-solving skills, with a keen eye for detail and aesthetics.
- Flexibility to handle multiple projects and adapt to changing client needs and timelines.
