We are searching for a talented and creative Costume Designer to design costumes for our productions. The ideal candidate must be able to develop a vision for each character in a production, collaborate with the director and actors, and deliver high-quality costumes that align with the production's concept.

Costume Designer responsibilities

• Create costume design concepts that align with the production's creative vision and bring characters to life.
• Conduct research to identify costumes of a particular era, location, or style.
• Collaborate with the director, actors, and other creative professionals to ensure costumes align with the overall production concept.
• Plan and develop a costume plot, including creating sketches, choosing fabrics and trim, and sourcing costumes or materials.
• Manage costume budgets, including purchasing or renting costumes and managing alterations and fittings.
• Supervise the costume team during fittings, rehearsals, and performances to ensure costumes are executed to the highest quality and align with the production's vision.
• Ensure the safety and comfort of actors during costume changes, including managing quick changes.
• Work with wardrobe and costume departments to ensure that costumes are maintained and stored properly throughout the production.

Requirements

• A Bachelor's degree in Costume Design or a related field
• Experienced in creating costume designs for live theatre, film, or television productions
• In-depth understanding of historical and cultural costume styles, color theory, and fabric selection
• Strong sketching, sewing, and pattern-making skills
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with creative teams
• Strong organizational skills and ability to manage budgets and timelines
• Knowledge of costume safety and comfort, including managing quick changes
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and creative environment with strict deadlines

Job Description

• Able to manage client intake meetings & site survey
• Brainstorm and propose creative solutions
• Prepare 3D renders and present winning designs to clients
• Develop design/detailed drawings
• Prepare colour scheme and material board
• Source competitive quote/materials/samples
• Prepare Construction Specification/Design Documentation/Sample Board

Requirements:

• Candidate must possess at least a Diploma/Advanced/Higher/Graduate Diploma, or Bachelor Degree in Architecture, Interior Design or equivalent
• Min 2 years design experience in high end residential
• Creative conceptual design ability with a flair for winning designs
• Able to work under tight schedule
• Have experience in technical/detailed co-ordination and drawing
• Skilled in space planning/conceptual design/interior detailing
• Proficient in AutoCad, Photoshop & Sketchup, Sketchup, Powerpoint, Excel, and any other design software
• Good team player and proactive
• Able to multitask and manage multiple projects concurrently
• Takes pride in seeing a project to completion.

Business Development

• Overseeing the entire design process, from conceptualization to delivery, ensuring projects meet quality, time, and budget requirements.
• Facilitating communication between clients and the design team.
• Establishing project schedules and monitoring budgets.
• Motivating and managing a team of creative professionals.
• Ensuring alignment of creative and operational aspects to meet business objectives.

Work odd hours within stipulated guidelines. Be contactable at all times. Shift work.

SHADES OF LIFE is a Singapore based multi-disciplinary design studio with own in house carpentry that practices spatial , furniture and product design.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Diploma / Degree in Interior Design.

PROFICIENCY

• Proficient in CAD.
• 3DS MAX, VRAY CORONA RENDER, RHINO (bonus attributes)
• Creative eye for details in conceptualisation , design and design presentation process.
• Familiarity with all phrases of projects , potential issues and proven history to produce completed projects.
• Problem solving skills and self starter.
