Duties & Responsibilities

Plan, supervise, and implement the programme for the class in

accordance with the policies, guidelines, framework and philosophy of

the centre.

Assist in preparing and implementing the programmes for children.

To assist the main class teacher in managing challenging children using

appropriate behavioural strategies.

To be able to assist in teaching appropriate mealtime behaviour and

supervise playtimes.

To assist the main class teachers in the toileting needs of the children.

(bringing the children to the toilet)

To assist in administrative areas such as typing out various reports (e.g.

IEP, Progress Report, Educational Report) to support the main teacher.

To be able to provide input on children’s progress during case

conferences or at any other discussion points.

Assist with planning, sharing ideas and exchanging feedback with the

the entire team at least once a month.

Prepare age and developmentally appropriate teaching aids.

Evaluate and maintain records of children’s development.

To render basic first aid as and when necessary.

Responsible for the upkeep of teaching resources, preparing art and craft

materials, arrangement, appearance, decorations, and learning

environment of the classroom.

Use positive discipline techniques at all times.

Maintain and build relationships with children and parents.

Job Requirements

Certificate / Fundamental in Early Childhood Care & Education or

Tuesday to Saturday work week

UWCSEA Dover is looking for a Teacher of French from August 2024.

The appointee will teach a range of French (foreign language) classes from Beginner to Intermediate level across Primary, Middle School and High School. The appointee needs to be able to teach a combination of IB Diploma French B classes along with French language classes in Grade 9 and 10. The actual determination of classes will depend on the appointee's skill set, the needs of our students and timetabling requirements.

The French Department is composed of seven enthusiastic and dynamic teachers who work in a very well-resourced environment for learning. Teaching takes place in dedicated language classrooms that are part of a large, vibrant languages faculty at UWCSEA.

Person Specifications

• A good degree in French or in French language acquisition and a recognized teaching qualification or certification are expected.

• Academic expectations include enthusiastic participation in Professional Learning
• Pastoral expectations include the leadership of a mentor group unless the teacher is exempted due to other responsibilities
• On average the College expects a yearly contribution of two sessions per week in each season to Activities and/or Service.
• Teachers should be willing and eager to participate in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academics; Activities; Outdoor Education; Personal and Social Education and Service
• The College expects that teachers will participate enthusiastically in the curricular Outdoor Education experiences which are relevant to their students and will also occasionally volunteer for holiday Outdoor Education trips.
