Job Description

• Conducting of lessons according to our MI (Multiple Intelligences) curriculum and quality programmes
• Progress monitoring for our children and facilitate the children's learning process
• Maintaining good communication and rapport with parents and/or guardians
• Classroom management to maintain a conducive learning environment for the children
• Able to undertake key projects and manage centre's events
• Set up and upkeep classroom learning corners regularly to support monthly curriculum themes

• Candidates must possess at least a Higher Nitec in HCIC, ECE, CPT, ACEY and or ACECCE

UWCSEA Dover is seeking a qualified and experienced part time Teacher of Primary School Chinese from August 2024. The appointee must be experienced in teaching Chinese to this age group (4-11 years old).

Please note that to apply for this role, you must have an internationally recognised qualification and reside in Singapore. You must also be readily available from August 2024.

Main Responsibilities

• Teachers should be willing to contribute positively to the collaborative culture of the Chinese Language team, the overall languages team and broader Primary School teams.
• Teachers should construct learning experiences that challenge students, support the diversity of learners in each classroom, and demonstrate a strong commitment to concept-based teaching and learning.
• Teachers should ensure assessments support ongoing learning and provide timely, relevant, and appropriate feedback to students on formative and summative assessments.
• Teachers should demonstrate effective classroom management that shows an understanding of the academic, social, and emotional dimensions of learning.
• Teachers should keep parents informed about the learning of their children, and be proactive in communication with parents.

Person Specifications

• A good degree and a recognized teaching qualification or certification are expected.
• Experience in teaching Chinese language and literature and teaching kindergarten children is preferable.
• Experience in hands-on, experimental, play based learning is desirable for our youngest learners (4-7 years old)
• The ability to engage with students and engender enthusiasm for learning is a prerequisite for teaching at UWCSEA.
• Applicants should be enthusiastic about teaching within a multicultural environment. The flexibility of approach and a collaborative style is essential.
• Teachers should be willing and eager to participate in the five key elements of a UWCSEA education: Academics; Activities; Outdoor Education; Personal and Social Education and Service
• Academic expectations include enthusiastic participation in Professional Learning
• On average the College expects a yearly contribution of one session per week in each season to Activities and/or Services.
• The College expects that teachers will participate enthusiastically in the curricular Outdoor Education experiences which are relevant to their students and will also occasionally volunteer for holiday Outdoor Education trips.
