There are three main objectives to the proposed project. First, we aim to identify key integrative STEM competencies for secondary school students by reaching a consensus amongst subject matter experts on these constituents.

Second, we aim to select one top ranked STEM competency, that was identified in the first aim, to assess, monitor and develop systematically. Accordingly, a learning progression of one essential competency will be developed and validated. A learning progression is fitting as it combines a developmental pathway based on research with appropriate assessment tasks and pedagogical guides for teachers. Third, we aim to explore how the learning progression can be integrated within the school curriculum. Information will be obtained from qualitative interviews with involved educators. The current project can act as a case study for other schools to model.
