Job Scope:

1. Perform visual testings in a private ophthalmologist clinic

- Visual acuity

The Signature Research Programme in Health Services & Systems Research (“HSSR”) in Duke-NUS Medical School is a centre of academic excellence for research and education on the organisation, funding and delivery of health services. Job Description

The successful candidate will work with Assistant Professor Andrea Phua’s lab on a range of projects, primarily “ Investigating a transcriptional role of primary cilia in striatal neural computation mediating cognitive flexibility”.

The main responsibilities of the position include:

• Performing confocal fluorescence microscopy experiments
• Conducting computational image processing and analyses
• Establishing and executing technical workflows for brain tissue processing in visualizing spatial protein and gene localization

Qualifications

The candidate should hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical engineering, Biochemical Engineering or a related field.

Skills:

• Strong interest in neuroscience research, with motivation to pursue further academic training in the field
• Excellent time and resource management skills
• Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to work well with interdisciplinary colleagues

Experience:

• Demonstrated track record in confocal fluorescence microscopy and associated super-resolution techniques
• Proficient in image processing techniques (e.g. deconvolution, denoising) to enhance image resolution and quality for visualization and quantification
• Experience in implementing machine learning techniques for automated detection and quantification of events in microscopy images is required
• Familiarity with immunofluorescence and RNA-FISH techniques
• A good foundation in biostatistics, with the ability to apply statistical methods to analyze experimental data will be necessary
• Some experience in microfluidic device fabrication will be a plus

A Research Assistant position is available in the Single-Molecule Biophysics Lab at the Mechanobiology Institute. The Research Assistant will assist in the research of the team by contributing to building and maintaining magnetic tweezers instruments and training other group members to use them. He or she will also share the workload of single-molecule manipulation experiments. Primary responsibilities will include:

• Building, testing, and maintaining magnetic tweezers instrument
• Share workload on single-molecule studies of mechanosensing proteins

Qualifications

1. Minimal Bachelor’s degree, college background in Physics;
2. Capable of building fluorescence microscopes independently;
3. Extensive undergraduate research experience related microscope building and optics.
4. Skillful in Labview and MatLab programming.

This role will be responsible to perform daily housekeeping functions and maintain high standard of hygiene and cleanliness within the kitchen of the Nursing Home.

You will support the Operations Support Assistant and Ops Support Executive (OSE) to work with outsourced vendors to ensure the safe and proper management, kitchen cleanliness, handling, plating and delivery of food to residents

The detailed duties are as follows:

• Assist in the maintenance of food hygiene (taking delivery of food, storage of food, food temperature maintenance, food preparation)
• Upkeep environmental cleanliness (washing of dishes and cutlery), includes daily cleaning and weekly deep cleaning
• Ensure proper handling of chemicals
• Report any maintenance deficiencies detected within the kitchen to the Operations Support Assistant and/or Ops Support Exec.
• Ensure kitchen supplies are adequate to meet the daily needs of the nursing home
• Keep work areas free of hazardous conditions. Ensure that kitchen tools / equipment are cleansed and properly stored after usage.
• Work with vendors to receive food
• Work with the Centre Manager to audit the kitchen facilities
• Conduct plating activities if required

Requirements:

• Basic English Language Proficiency to communicate with colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
• Service oriented and customer focused
• Related experience in hospitality or food & beverage industry will be preferred.
