Job Description

The National University of Singapore invites applications for a Research Assistant in the Department of Medicine, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. The Dept of Medicine at NUS is a very large research-intensive department and is dedicated to the advancement of human healthcare in Singapore first, but also beyond. Purpose of the post

The Research Assistant (RA) will be responsible to, and work closely with, the Principal Investigator (Assoc. Professor Peter Goon) and other study team members to ensure the successful completion of their research studies (Virus-associated cancers with emphases on pre-cancer detection, host immunology, virology, and potential treatments, Skin cancers and drug reactions) on time. The RA’s principal role will be to work in general practices such as recruitment, data collection, laboratory experiments, data entry and analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities

The Research Assistant will liaise with the relevant personnel in hospital to smooth the process of recruitment and data collection and will be accountable to the Principle Investigator (PI). The RA will be able to:

1. Oversee the general management of the project;
2. Provide administrative and secretarial support to the project, such as organizing regular meetings to maintain regular communication with other members of the research team and collaborate with the study sites;
3. Undertake the day to day running of the project at the study site, e.g. Collaborate with team members at the study sites, laboratory experiments, recruitment, data collection at hospitals/participants’ homes;
4. Conduct literature searches, using SPSS to enter data, and analyse data and maintain trial database, as well as assist in preparing both progress and final reports of the project;

6. Assist with any other duties of a similar nature that are delegated by the PI.

Qualifications

The applicant should:

1. Have a first degree with good results or holds a Bachelor degree in medicine or science-related disciplines;

As an Administrative Assistant (RAU), you will be responsible for delivering quality frontline customer service, and administrative and operational support to the manager and HOD in ensuring efficient and smooth operations for Home Based Services. Responsibilities:

· Understand and fulfil SLEC’s mission and strategy.

· Manage Client referral and registration process.

· Schedule and reschedule appointments.

· Monitors appointment bookings to ensure efficient visit scheduling which enables maximal utilization of professional staff and resources.

· Provide financial counselling about services and necessary support for the applications or renewal of various applicable financial schemes (e.g., NMTS, Financial Assistance).

· Cashiering duties and managing outstanding account follow-ups.

· Reconcile monetary transactions.

· Attend and manage feedback and enquiries about service.

· Handle complaints and feedback and perform service recovery.

· Liaise with internal and external stakeholders for the provision or continuation of service. (i.e., Coordination with service partners, Lab dispatches)

· Assist in reporting and analysing service statistics and data.

· Provide administrative assistance to the department or service. (i.e., Data entry, verification, claims submission, licensing renewal, reports, raising procurement requests, etc).

· Assist in identifying problem areas and participate in quality improvement initiatives and projects.

· Anticipate and resolve problems during daily operations.

· Provide appropriate feedback to Manager.

· Ensure policies are adhered to by Clients and caregivers.

· Any other projects that are assigned by the manager.

Job Requirements:

· Minimum GCE “N, O, A” level or Diploma.

· At least 2 years of working experience in customer service or health care services.

· Customer service oriented with good frontline, communication, and interpersonal skills.

· Effective written and oral communication skills.

· Ability to speak different local languages and dialects will be advantageous

· Resourceful and proactive.

· Meticulous in handling administrative tasks.

· Strong team player with strong communication, interpersonal and organisational abilities.

• Assist the Physiotherapist (PT) and Occupational Therapist (OT) in setting up residents and clients on therapeutic equipment.
• Assist the PT and OT in setting up and implementing therapeutic intervention and exercises according to resident’s and client’s care plan.
• Assist in running group therapy, conduct recreational and wellness program for the resident and clients.
• Assist OT in the fabrication of orthosis necessary for rehabilitation.
• Assist with basic administrative duties within work area.
• Co-ordinate portering of residents/clients to and from the ward to exercise gyms for therapy activities.
• Assist with handling enquiries, answer phone calls, record and convey messages.
• Assist with maintenance and storage of all therapy equipment and supplies in the department.
• Assist in updating inventory list of equipment/supplies/forms.
• Perform inventory checks of equipment/supplies/forms.
• Tidy therapy area and assist with cleaning duties.
• Perform appropriate ad-hoc duties assigned by the PT and OT and management.
