JOB DESCRIPTION

1. Plan and execute risk-based process audits and ensure timely completion of audit assignments according to the annual audit plan.

2. Assess adequacy and effectiveness of internal controls, and compliance with policies and procedures.

3. Gather relevant audit evidence and document in audit working papers to support audit findings and conclusion.

4. Identify control gaps and make practicable recommendations to mitigate risks, improve the processes and strengthen the internal controls.

5. Prepare draft audit report and communicate with process owners and key stakeholders on audit findings and recommended action plan.

6. Monitor and follow up on the implementation of audit recommendation and agreed action plan.

7. Engage internal stakeholders for process improvements and control enhancements. 8. Any other duties as and when reasonably assigned by the Management

REQUIREMENTS

 Diploma/ Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional qualification.

 Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in internal audit and/or financial, operational, compliance audit.

 Good knowledge of internal control and risk assessment framework.

 Meticulous self-starter with good analytical and problem-solving skills.

 Strong interpersonal skills with proven ability to build good working relationship with all levels of stakeholders.

 Good team player with the ability to work independently and to meet timeline.

 Knowledge and experience with Audit Analytics Software will be an added advantage.

Manulife Audit Services is looking for a self-motivated Senior Manager, Internal Audit. The candidate is accountable for planning, executing and completing audit projects (including key risk audits, investigations and other special projects). The candidate is also responsible for the delivery of high quality, professional, cost-effective, value-added and risk-based audit services within Asia. While remaining totally independent, the Audit Services function provides added value by working with management at all levels to improve the management of various forms of risk. The function provides assurance services to senior management and the board of directors which assist them in discharging their responsibilities for overseeing the management of risk in Manulife.

Responsibilities:

• Assist in preparing annual audit plan based on risks and applicable requirements.
• Assist in preparing presentation materials for risk and audit committees, and board meetings.
• Plan and execute various types of audits (including Sarbanes-Oxley Project (aka SOX)) in accordance with the audit methodology, departmental standards and regulatory requirements.
• Evaluate the management of risk and internal controls in business. Present findings to and reach agreement with the business unit management; make practical and value-added recommendations to improve control environment and efficiency and effectiveness of operations.
• Prepare audit reports; audit reports are to be clear, concise and well-organized, and issued within departmental service standards.
• Utilize data analytics techniques to improve effectiveness and efficiency of audit process.
• Ensure quality of work completed.
• Execute various types of audits within time budgets and target dates, reporting any timing problems or budget over-runs to responsible project leads and Directors.
• Assist business unit management by providing consulting advices.
• Follow-up with business unit management regularly on the status/implementation of corrective action plans for timely audit finding closure.
• Actively participates in departmental initiatives.
• Provide guidance and coaching to team members.

• Can communicate with business unit senior management and staff, to present audit findings clearly and concisely, reach agreement on appropriate solutions to risk management and operational efficiency issues

• To analyze business processes and controls over a wide diversity of operations across Asia, including in life and asset management business, identify key risks and control deficiencies, and develop practical and value-added recommendations for management implementation exercising sound business judgment

Responsibilities

• Leading audit engagements, covering engagement planning, process review, preparation, and review of audit workpapers, audit finalisation reports and financial statements across a portfolio of diversified clients including multinational corporations
• Participating in cross-border engagements and group audits with group/component audit teams and/or Grant Thornton network teams

Qualifications and skills

• At least 3 to 5 years of progressive audit experience.

• Strong technical accounting skills with proficiency in SFRS and SSA, as well as IFRS and ISA.

Job Description:

• Team member in audit engagements, which include planning, executing risk based financial and operational audits and completing audit statutory financial audits.
• Obtain a thorough understanding of Singapore Standards on Auditing (SSA) and common audit procedures and techniques.
• Develop a good understanding of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS) and financial statements presentation and generally accepted accounting principles and others reporting requirements, where applicable.
