Summary
A Senior Geotechnical Engineer position is available with Fugro Marine Geotechnical Team. The Marine Geotechnical service line is responsible for acquiring and interpreting accurate geotechnical data which enables our clients to make informed decisions during the engineering, design and construction phases of infrastructure development projects, ultimately reducing project risk and costs.
Reporting to a Principal Geotechnical Engineer / Engineering Manager, the Senior Geotechnical Engineer will take responsibility for independently delivering the findings of offshore site characterisation projects whilst managing a small engineering team in the future. From time to time you will also lead site based teams which is predominantly on dedicated geotechnical drilling vessels.
This position will be based in the Singapore office and serving all projects in the Asia Pacific Region.
Responsibilities
- Assisting the Engineering and Reporting Manager and Principal Engineers in the technical direction, resource management, planning, mentoring and training of a team of geotechnical engineers
- Communicate directly with Clients and Fugro’s project management team to ensure requirements are met
- Technically manage a portfolio of various sized projects within billed allowances, ensuring compliance with the specification and delivery of projects to programme dates
- Perform offshore stints either as a Lead Geotechnical Engineer or for the purposes of training and mentoring junior staff
- Delegate and distribute project responsibilities to junior staff and oversee their work
- Provide geotechnical consultancy services
- Review and approval of data provided by laboratory and geotechnical engineers
Requirements
- A degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Geology, Geotechnical Engineering
- Demonstrable experience within the Geotechnical Engineering profession, with relevant experience within the onshore or marine sector
- Willingness and ability to be part of offshore data acquisition campaigns
- Computer literate, capable of using spreadsheets preferably including macros and SharePoint
- Capable of generating a safe and quality-based culture within the team
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- A good team player and able to form working relationships with clients and colleagues at all levels
