The School of Computing and Information Systems (SCIS) at the Singapore Management University (SMU) has two tenure track faculty position, Assistant professor, in the discipline of Computer Science & Engineering.

We strategically hire to build critical mass and innovative capability in our core research areas and integrative research domains. In particular, we are looking to significantly expand our faculty expertise in Cognitive Computing, Computational Neuroscience, Ethics and Trust in AI, Multimedia (3D Computer Vision/Graphics, Virtual/Augmented Reality, Metaverse), Human and Social Aspects of Software Engineering, Sustainable/Green Computing, System Security and Distributed System Security.

Our Research. We are passionate about our research. We aim for excellence both in fundamental contribution to academic knowledge, as well as in creating technology with practical impact. Real-world industry sectors provide SCIS with a testbed and laboratory for experimentation, as well as a fertile breeding ground for new ideas. Our faculty and students apply their research results to solve real problems in a variety of industry settings and to create IT applications and systems. At the same time, our faculty actively publish in top-quality Computer Science and Management Science conferences and journals. On our faculty are several world-class scholars and rising stars in their respective disciplines.

We are committed to supporting the development of our faculty. Besides start-up support and career mentoring for junior faculty, their Ph.D. students are funded by the school rather than paid from their research grants. SCIS faculty members are encouraged to collaborate on innovative research projects and also on integrative and interdisciplinary projects. SMU as well as Singapore government agencies, such as the National Research Foundation, provide generous support for high-quality research proposals.

A noteworthy example of our funded research is the Living Analytics Research Centre (LARC), operated jointly with Carnegie Mellon University; LARC focuses on building technologies for Social Media Sensing and Analytics, and applying them in Singapore’s Smart Nation initiatives. In the area of Cybersecurity, SCIS has a Secure Mobile Centre that conducts research into mobile device, cloud, and platform security.

Our Education. SCIS has more than 70 students taking the Ph.D. in Information Systems and Ph.D. in Computer Science programmes. Ph.D. students can concentrate in any of our computer science oriented research areas, or in our management science oriented Information Systems & Management research area.

SCIS recently launched a new Professional Doctoral Degree, Doctor of Engineering (EngD). The programme aims to train students to become IT leaders with deep technical expertise for innovating, designing and managing complex IT systems.

SCIS also offers Master of IT in Business (MITB), a professionally oriented coursework programme, which has more than 400 students. The programme supports a Financial Technology & Analytics track focusing on FinTech and the integration of Technology & Operations in Banking, an Analytics track focusing on applied analytics for business, consumer and social insights, as well as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) track that emphasises building AI-enabled business applications.

Additionally, we have over 1,800 undergraduate students in our B.Sc. (Computer Science), B.Sc. (Information Systems) and B.Sc. (Computing & Law) programmes. The programmes have been remarkably successful in demonstrating educational innovations and creating a culture of learning, establishing external linkages and partnerships with industry, government and the social sector, and with job placement. We have an entrepreneurial student body, and many SCIS undergraduates have gone on to create or participate in start-ups.

JOB SCOPE

We are seeking to hire a highly organised, detail-oriented, and versatile Administrative and Project Assistant to join our team. Someone with experience in similar roles in the field of market research will be advantageous. This role has two primary functions:

Administrative Support

• Provide high-level administrative support to company executives.
• Assist with travel planning, expense claims and meeting arrangements.
• Assist or handle special projects and tasks (such as organising events, staff engagements, CSR initiatives, etc.) assigned by executives.
• Undertake general office management duties such as upkeeping of the office, managing vendors and maintaining office supplies and equipment.
• Handling inbound/outbound communications, postal and courier requirements.
• Support in record-keeping, data entry and generating reports.
• Provide human resources support such as new employees’ onboarding, advertising positions, screening applicants, and organising interviews.
• Support the broader team with adhoc administrative requests.

Project Management

• Coordinate project logistics to ensure timelines and deliverables are met.
• Assist in the initial setup of projects such as surveyors/respondents’ recruitment, liaising with vendors, prepping necessary tools and incentives, and organising briefing.
• Monitor fieldwork progress across projects
• Assist in vendor management and onboarding
• Support in cost management – from tracking to documenting expenses.
• Prepare data and provide support for data analysis and reporting

JOB REQUIREMENTS & EXPECTATIONS

• Minimum 2-3 years’ experience in administrative and/or project support
• Experience specifically in project managing in the field of market research will be advantageous, otherwise candidates without experience in market research must be willing to acquire new skills and knowledge.
• GCE ‘O’ level, NITEC or relevant certifications (e.g. project management or secretarial)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Detail-oriented and able to multitask effectively.
• Resourceful, versatile with strong problem-solving skills and a proactive attitude.

• Salary range: $2200 to $2600 (Depending on experience and qualification)

REQUIREMENTS

- Possess sea-going work experience as Marine Engineer

- Possess MOT Engineer Certification either class 1 or class 2 will be an added advantage.

- Independent and resourceful. Able to work under pressure to meet deadline.

- Ability to travel within short notice as required.

Position Summary

The Recruitment Consultant is to help the company to source, identify, screen, and hire individuals for various roles. This role also needs to Build and maintain relationships with existing and new clients. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to devise sourcing strategies for potential applicants. This role requires a candidate with an entrepreneurial mindset to be part of our growing business in Singapore and/or Asia. This role will own the end-to-end recruitment process and partner closely with clients to develop talent sourcing and attraction strategies for junior-to-mid hires.

Key responsibilities:

Recruitment

• Create job descriptions and interview questions that reflect the requirements for each position
• Sourcing for candidates through Job Portal, networking, LinkedIn, social media, non-traditional sources and referrals.
• Identify and refine down the most suitable talent from available candidates
• Plan interview and selection procedures, including screening calls, assessments, and in-person interviews
• Conduct interviews with candidates and assess their suitability based on client's requirement and needs
• Create profiling of the suitable candidates to be proposed to the engaged clients for consideration
• Coordination of interviews arrangement between clients and candidates
• Negotiating job offers with selected candidates (commencement date, salary, etc.)
• Conduct reference check on candidates on behalf of clients.
• Organize and attend job fairs and recruitment events to build a strong candidate pipeline
• Providing good customer service and building good rapport with clients and candidates.
• Ensuring every job posting is in accordance with TAFEP guidelines.
• Advising clients on recruitment matters based on the Employment Act of Singapore.
• Perform post-recruitment follow up with clients and candidates

Business Development

• Achieve sales revenue targets in assigned markets/industry.
• Responsible for all sales activities from lead generation through close in assigned markets/industry
• Building and maintain relationships with existing clients

Experience & Qualifications:

• Minimum Diploma qualifications and 1 year of relevant experience in recruitment is a plus
• Candidate without relevant working experience is welcome to apply
• Candidate who is flexible, adaptable to changes, willing to learn and improve, self-driven and a team player will have a distinct advantage
• Posses Certificate of Employment Intermediaries (Basic) is a must.
