Within Fixed Income Goldman Sachs Asset Management manages over $400bn of general account assets on behalf of insurance companies. Key to our approach is a solutions-based attitude to both investment and servicing which places the client at its center.

Role

Goldman Sachs Asset Management is looking to hire an Insurance Portfolio Manager based in Singapore to join the global insurance portfolio management team to provide investment solutions to meet each insurance client’s individual investment objectives and considerations. The role will cover all of GSAM’s public fixed income strategies and capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Risk manage/own portfolio construction for bespoke insurance fixed income solutions
• Service existing client base, providing regular client engagement, reporting and insight
• Drive new business opportunities, working closely with insurance sales and strategy teams
• Collaborate with clients (both current and prospective) on topics including asset allocation, investment guidelines, risk budgeting and portfolio optimization
• Align investment processes and information flow with the Global Insurance Portfolio Management team
• Work closely with Head of APEJ Global Fixed Income

Experience

• 7+ years of work experience in public fixed income
• Strong understanding of insurance companies, including capital, accounting and ESG considerations
• Understanding of Asian client needs
• Exceptional written and oral communication skills
• Positive attitude and strong work ethic
• Strong interpersonal skills: ability to build trust and confidence of colleagues, strengthen relationships through ongoing dialogue and interactions, and collaborate with broad range of stakeholders
• Experience working within a fast-paced environment collaborating across time-zones

YOUR IMPACT

The Asset & Wealth Management Strategic Transformation Office is a recently established entity tasked with overseeing comprehensive large-scale transformations. Our primary objectives are to enhance scalability, drive revenue growth, improve client experience, and elevate controls to optimize our operating platform. This group comprises of four critical functions, including (1) Product Management & Design, (2) Change Management, (3) Regulatory Management, and (4) Monitoring & Testing.

The AWM Regulatory Management team manages the regulatory strategy and roadmap for the AWM business globally. As the key business partner for regulatory matters, the team is responsible for: 1) Regulatory Solutions; assessing the impact of regulations on business activities and 2) Regulatory Controls; ensuring a robust control framework is in place to evidence compliance.

Regulatory Solutions represent the views of the business on regulatory change governance forums and act as co-sponsors of new regulations. The team is responsible for performing detailed assessments on new regulations, identifying the impact on existing AWM capabilities and supporting the design of appropriate solutions to deliver regulatory requirements. The team also supports the launch of new products, funds or trading activity by advising on current live and new upcoming regulatory considerations.

HOW YOU WILL FULFILL YOUR POTENTIAL

· Build a deep understanding of the Asset and Wealth Management business through analyzing the applicability and impact of regulatory policies and rules to each business area (new regulations and new business activities)

· Simplify complex problems (regulatory challenges) by collaborating with the team, key stakeholders, and regulatory experts within the firm

· Exert influence and impact, to drive business engagement and lead strategic cross divisional discussions on regulatory change matters

· Deploy appropriate methodologies and governance tools, to drive the timely delivery of analysis and agreed solution approach (operational and technology driven)

· Build strong senior stakeholder relationships that will be required when performing complex analysis across multiple businesses

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE WE’RE LOOKING FOR

· Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in management consulting or related field in financial services with active involvement in new regulation assessments and implementations

· Understanding of asset management products (closed/open funds, traditional and alternatives products), and the wider asset management operating model and ecosystems

· Demonstrated proficiency in working as part of business or regulatory function owning the regulatory strategy, roadmap, analysis and interpretation of new regulations for the business

· Strategic mindset with strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills to provide creative and innovative solutions

· Strong project management skills including definition of business case and scope, articulation of issues, challenges, risks, dependencies and solutions

· Strong communication and relationship-building skills with ability to influence all levels of staff to drive change

· Proven track record of owning, designing and executing solutions for complex problems

· Experience in Reg product and platform management is preferable

· Multi-task and can manage and advance multiple projects simultaneously

· Proficiency in MS Office, PowerPoint, and Excel, with an ability to learn new tools quickly

Join us as Portfolio Manager, Derivatives at AIA Investment Management!

In this role, you will be responsible for managing cross-asset derivatives portfolios outsourced by AIA Insurance Business Units to AIA IM, blending a proper perspective on financial and derivatives markets and an effective and disciplined risk management approach. You will also be designing, modelling, structuring and advising on derivatives-based strategies and solutions for Group functions and AIA BUs.

Derivatives Portfolio Management:

• Handle linear and non-linear derivatives portfolios, across asset classes, in line with portfolio mandates benchmarks and key risk metrics, following a rigorous investment process based on solid understanding of macro and markets environments, and a disciplined risk management approach.
• Lead efficiently scarce resources (cash, collateral, risk limits) ancillary to derivatives portfolios.

Derivatives Solutions:

• Drive the implementation of the platform to structure and handle derivatives-centric investment-linked insurance products.
• Provide expert advice to AIA BUs and Group functions to design and optimize their derivatives strategies, based on a deep understanding of relative economic value, liquidity, and geographical nuances between different derivatives instruments.
• Help to define, model and quantify the objectives of such derivative strategies and suggest and similarly quantify alternatives for decision makers on such trades.

Derivatives Infrastructure:

• Support the rollout of new Investment and Derivatives Management systems.
• Support the development of the Derivatives and collateral infrastructure, in particular front-office analytics and portfolio management tools

What you will need:

• Minimum of 10 years’ experience of designing and handling linear and non-linear Derivatives portfolios (cross-asset preferred), preferably in an asset management company.
• Excellent expertise and technical expertise in all aspects of derivatives.
• Experience in structuring investment-linked insurance products, and handling associated portfolios.
• Experience of working with LDI strategies and ALM/Actuarial sciences knowledge preferred.
• Experience in collateral management and optimization, and funding markets (repo, securities lending) a plus.
• Experience in developing Derivatives analytics and experience with Blackrock Aladdin system preferred.
• Good interpersonal skills: credible communicator with good verbal and written communication skills.
• Good Teammate and able to communicate in a diverse culture environment.
• Intellectually curious, details oriented, analytical problem solver, proactive and delivery focused. Trustworthy and reliable.
• CFMAS (Modules 3, 5, 6, 6A) preferred.
