The scope of the Strategic Investments and Business Development function at Olam Agri covers M&A, greenfield investments, divestments, joint ventures, and strategic initiatives. As a key member of the SIBD team, the Manager will play a critical role in supporting the growth strategy of Olam Agri. S/he will be involved across the full deal lifecycle, from deal origination and analysis to execution and post-deal integration. This includes managing multiple projects simultaneously, collaborating with multiple internal and external stakeholders, and driving each project stage to a successful completion. Role is based in Olam Agri HQ in Singapore and covers global portfolio of organic and inorganic projects including support for potential IPO. This role would report to the Head of M&A and Strategic Investments and works closely with senior leadership.
M&A and organic investments:
· Support the execution of investment/divestment projects: business case development, valuation and financial modelling, due-diligence, structuring, documentation review and project management
· Coordinate cross-functional mullti workstream due diligence teams to evaluate financial, tax, legal, and other aspects of potential acquisitions. Identify risks and opportunities, and propose strategies to mitigate risks
· Review comprehensive organic investment proposals, prepare presentations and recommendations for approval, navigate the internal approval process.
· Monitor performance of organic & inorganic investments and prepare management reports to facilitate reviews at Investment Committee and Board level
Strategic Projects
· Support cross-functional strategic projects: market analyses, peer reviews, assessment of business opportunity potential, business strategic reviews, etc.
· Provide insight into the group’s/BU strategy by performing ad-hoc analyses
· Help business units in evaluating long term strategic options and value creation initiatives
Market Intelligence
· Maintain a continual awareness of the industry, emerging trends and opportunities including but not limited to competition, changes in customer preference and advancement in technology
· Gather and leverage market and competitive intelligence to produce meaningful analysis and actionable insights, which to communicate to management in a cohesive manner
· Interact and assess market data providers, internal and external
· Any ad hoc duties related to the function as assigned
Education & experience:
· Degree in Business management and/or Finance or MBA/ CFA
· Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in investment analysis and projects management, in-house or with a top tier advisory firm
· Experience in agricultural commodities or B2B food industry is a plus
Skills:
· Excellent quantitative and financial modelling skills
· Solid knowledge of valuation & accounting concepts
· Market research and data analysis expertise
· Critical analytical abilities to draw sound conclusions from large sets of information and multiple data sources
· International background and ability to work in cross cultural and cross-functional teams
