Job Summary:

The Project Engineer will be responsible for managing and coordinating data center construction projects. This role involves overseeing all aspects of the project lifecycle, from planning to execution, to ensure that projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.

Roles & Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage project plans, schedules, and budgets.
• Coordinate with cross-functional teams, contractors, and vendors to ensure project alignment.

Job responsibilities

• Be responsible for the uptime, maintenance, and troubleshooting of water pumps and treatment systems, Heating Ventilating and Air Conditioning (HVAC), and Control and Monitoring Systems.
• Operate, monitor, maintain, and respond to abnormal conditions in the data center facilities systems and equipment. Provide tracking and trending operational characteristics.
• Support startup, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and systems into facilities infrastructure. Direct the execution of starting-up, commissioning, documentation, and full facilities turnover on assigned projects.
• Provide operational and maintenance insights into the design review process.
• Produce standards and templates for global control/monitoring system analysis, diagnostic, preventive maintenance, and trend logs for data center critical facilities systems.

Minimum qualifications

• Associate's degree, trade school certification, or other certified training in a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in operating and maintaining mission critical facilities (data centers, hospitals, pharma, refineries, power plants, industrial, etc.).
• Commissioning experience of HVAC and mechanical distribution systems (chillers, air handling units, etc.) to include air and water side systems.

Preferred qualifications

• Experience with maintenance on mechanical or Mechanical, Electric and Plumbing (MEP) systems, and capable of independently resolving common system failures.
• Experience with operations in a data center and troubleshooting for mechanical/HVAC systems.
• Ability to work with varying outdoor temperature conditions, perform material handling (lifting/shifting) and work on platforms, ladders, and under raised floors.
• Ability to learn quickly and address issues as they arise during normal operations or during emergency conditions.
• Ability to work non-standard 12 hour shifts including weekends and holidays on-call rotation.

Job Scope:

• Perform physical visitor access request into Data Centre.
• Perform physical equipment movement request in or out of Data Centre. Manage access requests and inventory movements with all necessary approvals & checking that it matches with request.
• Health monitoring of systems via Network Operations Centre dashboards using monitoring tools.
• Escalate issue to relevant parties based on Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) & escalation matrix.
• Perform data backups and ensure it is run on timely basis and manage failed jobs.
• Proper handover of information or task to be passed down to next team during shift handover to ensure smooth transition of outstanding issues or tasks.
• Reports generation (daily/weekly/monthly).
• Monitor patching activities.
• Daily checking of logs to prepare for audit: visitor log, keypress log, staging, storage, DC item log and inventory movements.
• Weekly checking of logs to prepare for audit: CCTV and degauss logs.
• Perform any other task assigned that is related to job requirements

The Senior Data Center Planning & Development Engineer, APAC plays a strategic role in the execution of EdgeConneX’s global expansion plans. The position requires a blend of analytical, creative thinking, and relationship building skills to assess opportunities and develop recommendations that align with the Company’s growth objectives. The successful candidate will manage and drive the Engineering for new locations and provide technical advice as a subject matter expert to facilitate Executive Management’s decision-making on large-scale projects in support of EdgeConneX’s Regional expansion plans.

An industrious go-getter, the Senior Data Center Planning & Development Engineer, APAC will work with EdgeConneX’s Real Estate, Site Development, and Engineering to advise on technical aspects of various potential projects and support critical development activities such as power, entitlement, permitting, concept designs, and budgeting. The job’s duties will include visiting new properties under consideration and in due diligence to determine their environmental and physical qualities, identify technical difficulties that a buildout on that property may encounter, assess development risks, and recommend mitigating strategies -- often preparing and presenting Property Development Plans. The ideal candidate must be a quick, critical thinker with great project management skills, substantial technical knowledge, and possess an extensive network of contractors, consultants, and other resources that would make it possible to get properties development and construction ready quickly and efficiently.
