The Senior Data Center Planning & Development Engineer, APAC plays a strategic role in the execution of EdgeConneX’s global expansion plans. An industrious go-getter, the Senior Data Center Planning & Development Engineer, APAC will work with EdgeConneX’s Real Estate, Site Development, and Engineering to advise on technical aspects of various potential projects and support critical development activities such as power, entitlement, permitting, concept designs, and budgeting. The job’s duties will include visiting new properties under consideration and in due diligence to determine their environmental and physical qualities, identify technical difficulties that a buildout on that property may encounter, assess development risks, and recommend mitigating strategies -- often preparing and presenting Property Development Plans. Primary Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

The SMU Urban Institute, launched in early 2024, is a university-level research institute dedicated to advancing an interdisciplinary research agenda. Leveraging SMU's strategic position as a dynamic management university in Singapore's city centre, the Institute aims to make a meaningful impact through the study of Asian cities. Work under supervision of PI (Principal Investigator) to create and operate a large-scale taxi/ride-hailing simulator in Singapore setting. The major responsibilities are:

• Refit an existing large-scale taxi/ride-hailing simulator using latest street topology.
• Process large datasets from LTA and Gojek to prepare for simulation calibration.
• Design an automated process to calibrate the simulation model, so that it is consistent with real-world data.

• Bachelors/Masters degree in Computer Science or a related computing focused discipline is required.
• Previous research experience is highly preferred.
• Excellent coding ability and experience in Python or Java is essential.
• Coursework in data structures and algorithms, probability and statistics.
• Experience with geospatial data analytics is a big plus.
• The candidate should provide a sample of significant project on github/bitbucket.

Key Responsibilities:

· Install and mount equipment in data center racks, including servers, network switches, routers, and firewalls.

· Replace components in existing equipment, such as server motherboards, GPUs, CPUs, RAM, HDD/SSDs, network line cards/modules, transceivers, and cables.

· Perform fiber optic and Ethernet cable patching within racks, ensuring all connections are correctly made to designated ports and interfaces.

· Prepare servers for operation, including operating system installation, basic network and firewall configuration, and application deployment.

· Conduct operational and maintenance tasks such as cable testing, equipment power cycling, and setting up console interfaces for remote access.
