Job Overview:

Astor International School is seeking a dedicated and passionate English as a Second Language (ESL) Teacher to join our educational team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for planning, delivering, and assessing lessons designed to help students acquire English language skills in speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The Context:

Astor opened in August of 2019 to provide quality, affordable education to international students. Key Responsibilities:

1. Instructional Planning and Delivery:
   • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials tailored to the proficiency levels and learning needs of students.
   • Use interactive and engaging teaching methods to build students’ English language skills.
   • Incorporate a variety of enquiry based activities to enhance the learning experience.
2. Assessment and Evaluation:
   • Conduct regular assessments to monitor student progress and adjust teaching strategies accordingly.
   • Provide feedback to students on their performance and areas for improvement.
   • Prepare and maintain accurate records of student progress and achievements.
3. Student Support:
   • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages participation and builds confidence.
   • Support students in overcoming language barriers in academic and social contexts.

4. Collaboration and Communication:
   • Work collaboratively with other teachers, and administrators to support student learning.

Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field.
• Certification: TEFL, TESOL, CELTA, or a state-approved ESL teaching certification.
• Skills:
  • Native English speaker.
  • Strong knowledge of second language acquisition principles and teaching methodologies.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
