The Climate Transformation Programme (CTP) aims to develop, inspire and accelerate knowledge-based solutions and educate future leaders to establish the stable climate and environment necessary for resilient, just, and sustainable Southeast Asian societies.

CTP will generate knowledge and innovation across disciplines including climate and Earth science, ecology, materials science, artificial intelligence, humanities, social sciences and the arts, finance, health, and engineering. It will also translate state-of-the-art scientific results into real world solutions for Singapore, and it will transfer these solutions to Southeast Asia (SEA) and beyond.

As part of this programme, Research Cluster 4: Novel engineering solutions for climate impacts, will explore engineering solutions to adapt to sea-level rise and climate-constrained water resources. The Project Officer will be based in School of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) and will be expected to work effectively for advancing the engineering solutions to mitigate the climate change impact which focus on new design concepts for seawalls and coastal defence systems. The position is expected to perform independent and collaborative research to meet the project objectives, to assist the management work of the project daily operation to facilitate the success of the project.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct research on laboratory experiments to test the performance of flexible seawall in flume test.
• Keep track of the latest related research developments
• Writing project progress reports
• Assist in the daily project operation management

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor in civil engineering, Coastal Engineering or related discipline
• Expertise in laboratory soil mechanics testing
• Knowledge in ground improvement, coastal erosion and management, hydrodynamics
• Publication track record is an advantage

• Develop corresponding mitigation measures together with the project team.
• Chair regular risk mitigation meetings and training with clients and internal parties.
• Advise management on alternative safer and higher productivity construction methodologies.

• Attend meetings related to construction progress, risks, etc.

Job Requirements:

• Have reasonable exposure in safety and health for construction especially on transportation infrastructure projects in a similar nature
• Attended the Design for Safety (DfS) for Professional Course and passed the assessment or equivalent.
• A registered PE or Architect with a Practicing Certificate OR
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience in the design and the supervision of the construction of structures with at least 5 years in design which includes contributions to designs and writing specification
• Have a degree accepted by PE Board or Board of Architect and construction related degree accepted by Singapore Institute of Surveyors (SISV) and Society of Project Managers (SPM)
• Possess excellent leadership, planning, good management skills, interpersonal communication and negotiation skills
• Have experience in LTA projects have an advantage

Job Descriptions:

• Manage and prepare the measurements and cost estimates for the construction projects from initial calculations to the final accounts.
