ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

Thales is seeking suitable candidate for the position of Engineer (System Security).

You will be looking after the governance of the infrastructure and systems for mission-critical Command and Control (C2) system that Thales Solutions Asia (TSA) have developed for government agency. You will be part of a team to manage the security of system, to ensure the system adhere to the security policies, and is well protected from any threats, risks or exploits.

KEY ACTIVITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As aSystem Security Engineer, you are accountable for:

Provide security expertise and management services to support Authority in activities such as:

· Internal / external audits (IM8, Cybersecurity, etc)

· Policies compliance (IM8, Cybersecurity, etc), work with vendor on:

- Vulnerability management compliance reports and patch reports

- Filing of documents and Security Scorecard for audit purpose, to produce it as required

- Monthly logs review. E.g., privilege user activities

- Vulnerability/ Compliance Assessments

- Penetration Tests and Source Code Reviews

· Disaster Recovery (DR) and Business Continuity Planning (BCP):

- All relevant activities related to the DR and BCP planning

- Checks on system backup completion by vendor and datacentre

- Document update and implementations.

· ICT/Threat Risk Assessments (TRA)

· Monthly reviews of privileged accounts and non-privileged account, disable inactive accounts

· Seek security waivers (IM8, Cybersecurity Act, Circulars etc)

· Circulate security notifications/alerts to vendors and ensure status updates too all stakeholders including cybersecurity centre

· Security monitoring/tracking:

- Monitor alerts from SOC

- Update stakeholders regarding SOC alerts

- Review compliance reports with vendors to ensure that system is compliant

- Manage, track and update any security incidents/ issues to all stakeholders

- Review Incident Report (if any)

· Patching:

- Ensure patches are tested and verified before seeking approval for patching downtime

- Communicate system downtime to all stakeholders

- Ensure system availability after patching is completed

· Obsolescence management for software licenses, hardware, operating systems and certificates

· Security enhancement/ integration

· Support the submission of security clearance for related vendors

· Perform other related duties as assigned or requested

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

To be successful in your role, you will have demonstrated and/or acquired the following knowledge and experience:

· Working hours will be 0830 hrs to 1800 hrs (for Monday to Thursday) and 0830 hrs to 1730hrs (for Friday), excluding weekends and Public Holidays

· Outside of working hours, to provide online support via emails and group chats when required based on the priority and severity of issues related to the system

· Able to cope in a highly pressured fast-paced environment

· Prior working experience in cyber security and vulnerability management is preferred

· Strong knowledge of security principles, best practices, and industry standards, such as NIST, ISO 27001, and CIS Critical Security Controls

· Able to understand security posture of systems

· Prior working experience in Project Management is a plus point

· Able to understand the system and software architecture, and user operations environment

· Willingness to pick up any new technologies

Education

Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree in Cybersecurity/ InfoSec/ Information Technology / Information Systems / Business IT or its equivalent

Relevant professional certifications, such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or other security certifications

Experience

Minimally 1-2 years of experience in cybersecurity and supporting mission critical systems with very stringent SLA e.g. 99.9%

Well-versed in cybersecurity best practices and establishing of its policies

Well-versed in IT Service Management (ITSM) standards, processes, guidelines and best practices

Responsibilities：

• Maintain the automation of development environment (CI testing) and integrate the performance modelling and simulation platform and framework for micro-architecture explorations
• Investigate the current state of the art of CPUs and system on chip architecture including cache, on-chip interconnect, and memory hierarchy
• Implement simulation models for performance modelling of System-on-Chip components like caches, interconnect, and memory controllers
• Maintain, porting and cross-compile the benchmarks and master the sampling and trace-based simulation techniques

Who are we?

We are the System Architecture Group at StarFive in Singapore. We focus on micro-architectural design, modeling, exploration and benchmarking. We help leadership and different stakeholders to make a data driven design decisions.

Job scope:

• CPU, cache, bus interconnection micro-architecture design and exploration
• Build the confidence performance model that can quantify the results with data-driven methodology
• Using existing benchmarks and writing own synthetic testing to correlate performance with RTL implementation
• Understand the HW/SW interface and requirements coming from SoC and software teams and independently working on possible modelling and simulation solutions

What are we looking for?

• BS/MS/PhD with relevant experience in Computer Architecture or strong interest in System Design/Computer Architecture
• Proficient in C/C++ and scripting languages (Perl/Python)
• Knowledge of one or more areas in computer architecture: CPU pipeline, cache hierarchy, interconnect network architectures etc
• Any prior experience in developing simulation-based performance models for SoC subsystems for architectural exploration and design tradeoffs evaluations is a plus
• Familiarity with Verilog/System Verilog/Chisel required but not mandatory
• Knowledge of RISC-V ISA is valuable but not mandatory
• Knowledge of assembly language in any of the ISA (X86, ARM etc) is valuable
• Any prior experience is bare metal environment for benchmarking using performance monitoring tools like perf etc is valuable

As a Systems Specialist, will be providing support in the following areas:

a) Develop and implement a threat hunting framework to provide a comprehensive structure for planning, executing, and managing threat hunting initiatives.

b) Develop and refine threat hunting methodologies and procedures to enhance the organization's ability to detect and respond to advanced threats.

c) Continuously enhance threat hunting techniques, processes, and tools to improve the organization's overall cybersecurity posture.

d) Stay updated with the latest vulnerabilities, security trends, and techniques in cyber threats and hacking methodologies.

e) Conduct research on emerging threats and vulnerabilities and provide recommendations for enhancing the organization's security posture.

f) Conduct proactive threat hunting exercises to identify and investigate potential security incidents and suspicious activities within the network.

g) Document all findings, analysis, recommendations and investigation results in a clear and concise manner and generate reports for management and stakeholders.

h) Develop and tune security monitoring rules, correlation logic, and detection signatures.

i) Be proficient in utilizing various security technologies, including SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) tools, network traffic analysis tools, endpoint detection and response (EDR) systems, vulnerability management system and threat intelligence platforms.

j) Work closely with other cybersecurity teams, such as for incident response, security operations, and threat intelligence, to share findings and collaborate on incident investigations.

k) Develop and implement a cyber intelligence framework to provide a systematic and organized framework for collecting, processing, and leveraging intelligence to enhance HDB's cybersecurity posture and decision-making capabilities.

l) Integrate the cyber intelligence framework with the HDB's Security Operations Center (SOC) and incident response team and ensure that the intelligence gathered is effectively used to detect, prevent, and respond to cyber threats.

m) Continuously monitor and collect information from multiple sources, including threat intelligence feeds, security vendors, dark web forums, social media, and other online platforms, to identify emerging cyber threats and attack trends.

n) Analyze the collected threat intelligence data to identify patterns, trends, and potential cybersecurity risks.

o) Prioritize and triage threats based on their relevance and potential impact to HDB.

p) Conduct in-depth analysis of threat actors, their motivations, capabilities, and tactics, and provide insights on potential risks and impacts to the organization's systems, networks, and data.

q) Produce regular and ad-hoc reports, briefings, and alerts on emerging threats, trends, and risk assessments to relevant stakeholders, including senior management, incident response teams, and other cybersecurity teams. The report shall also provide technical information in a clear and actionable format for various stakeholders.

r) Provide timely and accurate intelligence support during security incidents, assisting incident response teams in understanding the nature and scope of the threat, and providing guidance on containment, remediation and recovery strategies.

s) Support vulnerability management efforts by analyzing threat intelligence data to identify vulnerabilities, exploit trends, and potential targets, and prioritize patching and mitigation activities.

t) Collaborate with threat hunters and other cybersecurity teams to develop and refine threat hunting strategies based on threat intelligence insights and analysis.

Qualifications

a) Possess fundamental application security knowledge like interpretation of HTTP response status codes and WAF violations.

b) Display understanding of network security best practices.

c) Display understanding of techniques in cyber threats and hacking methodologies.

d) Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure. Willingness to learn.

e) Fundamental skills on Microsoft Office products like Word and Excel.

f) Additional certifications like CCNA, CCNP, CISSP or related certifications are a plus.

g) Must be able to work beyond business hours including weekend when necessary

About the role

The position is part of our Cyber Fusion Center’s managed support and operations team and is responsible for day-to-day support and operations of assigned cybersecurity solutions and platforms.

Job Responsibilities:

• Provide support for assigned security platforms, including onsite troubleshooting, root cause analysis, prepare and present incident reports.
• Provide security knowledge in security architecture recommendation and perform the necessary best configuration.
• Provide collaboration efforts in assisting the SOC teams in incident investigation.
• Manage ticket queue and take ownership and responsibility of tickets assigned, within agreed SLA.
• Perform change requests activities per change window allocated, including planning, review, tracking & verification and documentation.
• Ensure that daily operations and tasks are properly completed and followed up.
• Escalate issues and liaise with subject matter experts as required to resolve issues.
• Support after-office hours activities and standby requirements as necessary.
• Support shift rotation as necessary.
• Prepare activities report and work documentation.

Job requirements:

• Educational background in Information Systems, Cybersecurity or related disciplines.
• 2-5 years of hands-on engineering, support or operations experience in Infrastructure, Network or Security Tools
• Broad understanding of systems, network infrastructure; working experience with databases, LDAP and directory services, application servers, operating systems, and network infrastructure.
• Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages (Perl, Python, PHP, Shell, PowerShell, Windows Scripting, Windows console programs, .Net, Yara, Regular expression) will be a plus.
• Certificates such as ITIL Foundations, Microsoft MCSA, CISA, CISSP will be a plus.
• Ability to work independently, under the general guidance.

Description

Network Security Engineers provide premium-level support for Cloudflare’s security products and features. Our largest and most technically sophisticated customers will contact Support for assistance and intelligence in dealing with threats or attacks on their infrastructure at OSI Layers 3, 4, and 7. This will span the range of Cloudflare security products from Magic Transit Infrastructure Protection, DDoS mitigation and Network Firewall, to using the Web Application firewall (WAF), Spectrum and Rate Limiting to help customers.

Network Security Engineers analyse threats, make detailed and informed suggestions for mitigation and may need to implement mitigation strategies directly on behalf of the customer. They will also provide attack reporting beyond Cloudflare’s self-service reports.
