Cable laying Project Operation and Vessel Maintenance

• Quickly identify the cause of mechanical or electrical troubles that occurred to the working vessels and establish a proper restore/repair plan.
• Take precautions to prevent troubles on working vessels. Handle operational issues, repairs, and/or modifications to Cable laying Vessel fleet.
• Liaise and coordinate with various stakeholders, Vessel master’s shipyard and vendors to schedule repairs and maintenance needed for the operations. Prepare proposals for docking requirements and specifications. Check and ensure that spare parts inventory management and condition are sufficient to support repair and maintenance schedules.
• Ensure quality, environment, health & safety requirements are met.

Requirements:

• Master’s degree in mechanical or shipbuilding engineering.
• Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical or shipbuilding engineering.
• Minimum 2 years of experience as a project manager in new shipbuilding development.
• Minimum 1 power cable laying vessel construction supervision experience.
• Minimum 1 LNG dual-fuel or methanol dual-fuel vessel with basic design experience.
• Minimum 2 years of experience working in a Japanese engineering team.
• Experience in detailed design of hull piping.
• Able to use CAD and to draw a piping diagram on its own.

Responsibilities:

Shipbuilding Planning and Preparation

• Confirmation of construction schedule, detailed drawings, and specifications. Participation in regular meetings with shipowners, shipyards, designers, and other relevant parties.

Shipbuilding Quality control

• Verify that materials and parts used conform to specifications. Checking the progress and quality of each construction process to ensure proper quality. Perform inspections, Nondestructive testing (NDT), welding inspections, painting inspections, etc. Observe and confirm various tests (buoyancy tests, pressure tests, functional tests, etc.).

Shipbuilding Design supervision

• Check and approve blueprints and change drawings. Handling of review and approval of design changes that occur during construction.

Shipbuilding Safety management

• Planning HSSE management. Patrols and Ensures compliance with safety standards within the shipyard. Reporting and handling of safety issues and incidents.

Shipbuilding Process control

• Monitoring the progress of construction according to the schedule. Responding to and coordinating schedule changes and delays.

Shipbuilding Reporting and Recording

• Reports to head office about progress, problems, budget etc. Preservation of important records such as inspection results and test results.

Communication and coordination

• Liaison and coordination with shipyards, designers, shipowners, standards bodies, etc.
• Prompt response and resolution of problems and issues that arise.

Compliance with laws, regulations and standards

• Verification of compliance with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), Classification Society (Class), Japanese law and regulations and other standards and laws. Management of inspections and witnessing by standards bodies.

Shipbuilding Final verification and handover

• Completion inspection and verification during the final process. Confirmation of final trials such as sea trials. Witnessing and confirmation of the final handover of the vessel.

Preparation for cable laying work after delivery

• Order and load the materials and equipment needed for the cable laying work. Planning the suitable crew rotation schedule and the operation schedule. Cable installation project planning support.

Defect warranty

• When a machine problem occurs, troubleshoot to identify the cause and resolve it after delivery. Negotiate compensation with the shipyard in the event of a problem occurring and maintain the ship in a sound condition.

Requirements:

• Minimum 7 years of higher education in mechanical and/or naval engineering.
• Minimum 4 years of experience with designing for installation of special equipment in shipyards.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in considering ship specifications at companies operating work vessels.
• Experience in shipbuilding projects for special vessels that require advanced technical capabilities in Power/Air supply systems, Mechanical alignment, Procurement and overseeing vendors.
• Experience in boarding cable-laying vessels with a cable capacity of 10,000 tons or more.
• Expert knowledge of cable laying equipment installed on cable laying vessels.
• Expert knowledge of cable laying work using cable laying vessels.
• Good knowledge of Working class ROV and Trencher.
• Good knowledge of marine engineering, structural mechanics, ship design and mechanical design.
• Good written and interpersonal skills.
• Positive working attitude and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive troubleshooting/finding root causes with shipyard engineers and workers during the project period

The work scope for the above job title is as but not limited to the following:

1 The main task of the Driver is to drive the Company’s heavy vehicles to and from the different work sites as required by the work schedule. The heavy vehicles include lorry crane and tipper truck.

The Driver must drive the vehicles to the required work sites punctually.

The Driver must follow the schedule obtained from the Site/ Store Supervisors and Co-ordinator. The Driver must inform the parties involved if there are any clashes in schedule before proceeding.

The Driver must inform the Site/ Store Supervisors and Co-ordinator as soon as possible if he is delayed in his schedule. This will enable them to plan their resources efficiently.

2 Usage of Company vehicles

The Driver is to switch off the ignition completely and remove the key when the vehicle is parked and not in use. The Driver must not leave the vehicle in idle mode while waiting.

The Driver must understand that the Company’s vehicles and attached cash cards are solely to be for Company use. If the Driver uses the cash cards for personal use ie lunch parking fee, the Driver must reimburse the Company.

3 Safety

The Driver must drive and operate the vehicles in a safe manner in accordance to local laws.

If there are loads on the vehicles, the Driver must ensure the loads are properly secured in accordance with local laws and regulations.

The Driver must inform the Project Director immediately he is involved in an accident while driving or operating the vehicle. This includes causing damage to third party property.

The Driver should understand that if the accident is caused by the Driver’s negligence, the Company is entitled to pursue part or all of the claims from him.

The Driver should also understand if he incurs any traffic offences due to his own negligence, the Company is entitled to pursue part or all of the claims from him.

4 Servicing and Maintenance

The Driver is to inform the Company if any of the vehicles are unsafe to operate and require repairs. The Driver must not operate the vehicles in such situation.

The Driver will drive the vehicle to the Company appointed workshop for servicing and maintenance. The Driver will also pick up the vehicle when servicing and maintenance is completed.

The Driver will drive the vehicles to Inspection Centres as required.

Requirements:

• Class 3 Singapore Driving licence.

• Willing and able to do a lot of night jobs or do night shift as well as day shift. Night shift could be for more than 3 months at a time depending on project.

• Saturday is full day and able to work on Sundays when required.

• 2-3 year experience driving tipper truck with good track record
