Project Manager
Job Role Description:
The Project Manager oversees the planning and all project operations. He/She manages the progress of the project and ensures quality and timely delivery. The Project Manager will be required to travel to project sites. Good communication skills are needed to liaise with the various stakeholders.
The Project Manager is responsible for managing and reviewing operational policies, standards and procedures related to project logistics, including but not limited to integrating and installing automations, rigging and lifting technology. He/She is also responsible for managing relationships with logistics operations managers and managing project logistics resources, including manpower, internal assets and external vendors.
Resourceful and analytical, he/she is required to manage resources and obtain buy-in among internal and external stakeholders. He/She is also expected to lead a department and make business decisions independently.
The Project Manager is involved in the building, installation and execution of solar projects and ensure that all installations are as per the design and specifications layout. He/She is also involved in the regular maintenance or troubleshooting of the solar projects. He/She drives projects in all aspects of process and engineering design. He/She leads process development initiatives and see-through project life cycle, ensuring schedules and timeline are adhered to and in line with objectives. He/She works closely with contractors in quotation matters as well as service delivery. The Project Manager manages budget to ensure cost-effectiveness. He/She oversees new plant set up.
Tasks:
Coordinate with relevant parties to manage progress of the project to make sure that the schedule is kept.
Lead team to manage project operations, schedule, and specifications.
Manage operational cost to keep cost within the budget.
Manage site document filing and record keeping in accordance with International Organization for Standardization (ISO) standards.
Manage subcontractors’ activities to ensure compliance of contract requirements.
Monitor compliance of work with the workplace safety and health regulations.
Monitor quality of project delivery to make sure they meet project requirements and regulations.
Oversee the project team and subcontractors in delivery of project to meet completion date.
Provides leadership to the project management and construction team.
Supervise daily site activities.
Align resource management (manpower and asset) strategy with business strategy across different business activities.
Assess situational factors that inhibit change such as organisation culture, tradition and management mindset.
Build a culture of business process improvements that extend beyond project life cycle.
Determine key messages to communicate to internal stakeholders for application of latest technology trends.
Develop measures to improve vendor management capability in the organisation.
Develop strategic project plan to align projects with business strategy.
Drive Workplace Safety and Health (WSH) activities to ensure department compliance with requirements.
Drive behavioural change at organizational level to address non-conformance of WSH standards.
Drive organisational discussion on adoption of the latest technology innovations.
Drive the successful completion of technology projects.
Engage senior management for buy-in to implement solution identified.
Evaluate project activities in accordance to analysis and investment valuation concepts.
Influence stakeholders' perspectives of requirements and activities.
Influence the organisational programme management culture with analysis and investment valuation concepts.
Manage WSH activities to ensure department compliance with requirements.
Propose areas in logistics operations where technology can enhance processes.
Review allocation of resources across different business activities.
Review better ways to approach problems through synthesising and reorganising the problem information.
Review business processes improvement solutions to determine effectiveness.
Review projects to meet cost and benefit targets of a programme.
Communicate with project stakeholders across the various stages of the project.
Conduct company-level planning, such as policies and production quotas in collaboration with other managers.
Enforce compliance with legal, health and safety requirements.
Manage project budgets.
Oversee the preparation of records and reports.
Plan details of projects, such as quality, cost, timelines and labour requirements.
Prepare project tenders and contract bids, and acquire funding.
• Manage new Data Center project execution for green and/or brown field projects.
• Execute end to end project initiation process.
• Development of project master program, project charter and set up project processes.
• Sourcing for suitable specialist and subject matter experts to be part of project delivery team.
• Translate business requirement/plan into executable project deliverables.
• Prepare project budget capital funding, manage approved project capital funding cashflow and spending within approved budgets.
• Lead project tender and administration processes.
• Timely and accurately reporting of project progress and expenditure to management.
• Familiar with Data Canter risk redundancy configurations and requirement.
• Day to day construction oversight to ensure the project are carrying our safely complying with EHS requirement, on schedule, cost efficient that is within approved budget and compliance with specification.
• Assist in researching new technologies that could apply to new DC or to enhance current DC.
• Knowledgeable in various M&E critical systems (e.g. UPS, Generator, Chiller, Cooling Tower) requirement including testing and commissioning (i.e. FAT, SAT, IST).
• Liaise with Engineering Solution, Energy & Sustainability and DC Operation colleagues for project requirements.
• Oversee to ensure Environment, Safety and Occupational Health implementation by project contractors.
• Resourceful and excellent problem-solving skills, timely escalation to superior.
• Familiar in Energy & Sustainability certifications requirement (i.e. LEEDs, Green mark)
• Ability in reading design and construction drawings for all fields (Architectural, Structural, M&E, etc.)
The Ideal candidate should possess:
• Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in project management or construction management with proven track records in green and/or brown field data center projects.
• Diploma in Engineering, Project Management, Construction Management or Architecture.
• Preferable with LEED accredited professional.
• Possess good leadership, team player and good problem-solving skills
• Possess good communication skills in English and with attention to detail
• Good financial knowledge to oversee project cost control and management
