Project: 2x150 MW Thermal Power Plant
Job Overview:
The Resident Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the complete construction and commissioning activities of the 2x150 MW thermal power plant. The role involves leading a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely execution, adherence to safety and quality standards, and compliance with project specifications and budget constraints. The position is site-based and demands strong leadership and technical expertise in EPC project execution.
Key Responsibilities:
I. Construction Management
- Oversee all construction activities, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation (E&I) works.
- Ensure adherence to the project schedule and proactively address any delays or issues.
- Monitor construction milestones and maintain alignment with the L2/L3 project schedule.
- Coordinate with contractors for the erection, installation, and testing of boilers, turbines, balance-of-plant (BOP), and auxiliary systems.
- Ensure completion of critical structures, including boiler and turbine foundations, chimneys, and cooling towers.
II. Quality Assurance & Safety
- Enforce quality standards and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with project specifications.
- Implement safety protocols and monitor compliance across the site to prevent accidents and incidents.
- Conduct safety drills, risk assessments, and regular safety reviews with the team.
III. Team Leadership
- Lead a team of construction engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors across all disciplines.
- Assign responsibilities and monitor the performance of the team to ensure high efficiency.
- Foster a collaborative environment between contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.
IV. Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as the primary on-site representative for the client and coordinate closely with EPC contractors and consultants.
- Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, including design, procurement, and commissioning teams.
- Attend progress review meetings with clients and stakeholders, providing updates on construction status.
V. Documentation & Reporting
- Maintain accurate records of construction progress, resource utilization, and any deviations.
- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports detailing construction progress, delays, and mitigation plans.
- Ensure all required documentation is submitted for final approvals and commissioning.
VI. Risk Management
- Identify risks in construction activities and develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays.
- Handle conflict resolution between contractors or team members and ensure smooth operations.
- Monitor and manage site-related environmental compliance.
VII. Commissioning & Handover
- Collaborate with commissioning teams to ensure smooth transition from construction to commissioning.
- Verify readiness of systems and equipment for testing and commissioning activities.
- Ensure the preparation of as-built documentation and final project handover.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering
- Experience:
- Minimum 25 years in construction and commissioning of thermal power plants.
- At least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing projects of 150 MW or higher capacity.
- Technical Knowledge:
- Expertise in EPC project execution, particularly in civil works, mechanical erection, and electrical installations.
- Familiarity with power plant systems, including boilers, turbines, generators, BOP, and auxiliary equipment.
- Proficiency in construction management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar.
