A welder must be competent in using potentially dangerous equipment following all safety precautions. The ideal candidate will also have a steady hand and great attention to detail. Knowledge of different kinds of metal and their properties is essential.

Responsibilities

• Read blueprints and drawings and take or read measurements to plan layout and procedures
• Determine the appropriate welding equipment or method based on requirements·
• Set up components for welding according to specifications (e.g. cut material with powered saws to match measurements)
• Operate angle grinders to prepare the parts that must be welded
• Align components using calipers, rulers etc. and clamp pieces
• Weld components using manual or semi-automatic welding equipment in various positions (vertical, horizontal or overhead)
• Repair machinery and other components by welding pieces and filling gaps
• Maintain equipment in a condition that does not compromise safety
• Co-ordinate with fitter and supervisor for job instruction.

Requirements

• Proven experience as welder
• Experience using a variety of welding equipment and procedures (TIG, ARC, MIG, etc.)
• Experience in using electrical or manual tools (saws, squares, calipers etc.)
• Ability to read and interpret technical documents and drawings
• Knowledge of relative safety standards and willingness to use protective clothing (face-shield, gloves etc.)
• Proficient in English
• Professional Certification (e.g. an AWS welding certificate) will be an added advantage

• Monitor progress and performance of M&E works, identifying any deviations or issues and implementing corrective measures as required
• Ensure compliance with building codes, regulations, and safety standards for M&E systems
• Interpretation of specifications, compliances, terms and conditions, drawings and any other relevant document including getting budget approval from the relevant
• Involve in planning and technical co-ordination of M&E services installation work
• Supervise and liaise closely with consultants, sub-contractors and site operation team to facilitate installation works on site
• Coordination with the relevant authorities for design approval and work permission
• Ensure adherence of construction procedures and Safe work practices to warrant that works are executed within an acceptable standard of workmanship so as to meet the stringent requirements conducted during site tests and inspection

Job Requirements:

• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• At least 10 years of working experience in building and construction projects
• Good communication, written and analytical skills
• Able to lead teams and work across different levels including managing vendors
• Candidate must have MEP design experience will be an advantages

• Monitor the workers and ensure they are always working safely.
• Responsible for assigning safety meetings and making provisions for all attendees.
• When work changes happen, update the risk assessment and communicate the changes to the workers.
• Conducts Job hazard analysis with others and provides the document for everywhere to read.
• Writes the risk assessment for jobs with others and submits the document for work use.
• Makes daily spot checks and inspections of work tools, equipment and site and takes the necessary actions towards correcting any seen hazards.
