Understanding the pharmaco/ nutrico/ toxicokinetic behaviour of drugs, chemicals and food ingredients is a fundamental step in assessing the efficacy and safety of these materials. It can be challenging to study such substances directly in human subjects, while animal models lack direct translatability to humans due to inherent differences in species biology. One promising strategy is the use of physiologically-based pharmacokinetic (PBPK) modelling to predict the local tissue and systemic exposure of these substances. We have developed in-house in vitro and in silico tools to model chemical absorption, distribution, metabolism and excretion (ADME) in humans using data generated from in vitro assays. We apply these tools to predict pharmacokinetic profiles in different settings, ranging from oral or transdermal administration to studying special populations such as pregnant women, for a variety of substances including pharmaceuticals, food ingredients, environmental contaminants, essential micronutrients and microbial metabolites. These capabilities are further enhanced with state-of-the-art, enabling technologies such as the SHIME® intestinal digestion simulator and spatial mass spectrometry imaging.

The candidate in this position will be expected to be involved in the following activities:

• Literature search to extract relevant ADME data for chemicals of interest.
• Perform in vitro absorption, transporter, metabolism, fraction unbound and other related ADME assays.

The Departments are seeking candidates to join our fellowship programmes as Clinical Fellows.

As a Clinical Fellow, you will undergo the approved training programme by the Singapore Medical Council.

Job Requirements

• Active in clinical practice for 3 years preceding the application of medical registration with Singapore Medical Council;
• Possess basic medical degrees from an accredited medical university or its medical school, preferably with a postgraduate diploma or medical degree;
• Possess a 12-month of completed housemanship/internship postings;
• Possess a 3-year post housemanship/internship clinical experiences;
• Fulfil the English Proficiency requirements of Singapore Medical Council, if basic degree is not in English medium;
• Must be registered with the Medical Council or its relevant licensing authority from the country of practice;
• Must be sponsored by the government, or regional health authority or an appropriate institution (with a full-time employment of 40 hours or more per week) of the home country;
• Must be certified to be of a good standing by the Medical Council or its relevant licensing authority;
• Must be successfully registered with the Singapore Medical Council;
• Must be eligible for the relevant pass and Visa from the Ministry of Manpower, Singapore.

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent basic medical degree and/or
• Postgraduate qualifications relevant to the department’s specialty or nature of clinical training

Job Responsibilities

• Raise Purchase Request and manage the storage and usages of services, equipment, general supplies and medical consumables
• Monitor and track utilisation trends for all supplies
• Assists in the preparation of procurement documents
• Update and maintenance of asset records on a regular basis. Trouble shoot IT issues and/or escalate to relevant parties
• Correspond with internal and external stakeholders to verify and ensure timely and accurate processing of monthly invoices
• Support on-boarding and off-boarding processes, handling administrative tasks such as coordinating paperwork, apply relevant resources, set up work station, updating relevant records and any other relevant ad hoc activities
• Support planning of manpower roster and verification of monthly timesheets
• Undertake additional administrative tasks as required (i.e data entry, providing general office support

Requirements

• Diploma in any discipline
• Computer literate
• Enjoy doing hands-on work and likes to be on the ground to handle matters
• Organised and meticulous
• Able to cope with and work in a fast paced environment
• Must be a good team player with positive work attitude and able to work independently
• Prior knowledge/working experience in a hospital setting is an added advantage
