Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited university

Job Overview:

The Resident Construction Manager will be responsible for overseeing the complete construction and commissioning activities of the 2x150 MW thermal power plant. The role involves leading a multidisciplinary team to ensure timely execution, adherence to safety and quality standards, and compliance with project specifications and budget constraints. The position is site-based and demands strong leadership and technical expertise in EPC project execution.

Key Responsibilities:

I. Construction Management

• Oversee all construction activities, including civil, mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation (E&I) works.
• Ensure adherence to the project schedule and proactively address any delays or issues.
• Monitor construction milestones and maintain alignment with the L2/L3 project schedule.
• Coordinate with contractors for the erection, installation, and testing of boilers, turbines, balance-of-plant (BOP), and auxiliary systems.
• Ensure completion of critical structures, including boiler and turbine foundations, chimneys, and cooling towers.

II. Quality Assurance & Safety

• Enforce quality standards and conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with project specifications.
• Implement safety protocols and monitor compliance across the site to prevent accidents and incidents.
• Conduct safety drills, risk assessments, and regular safety reviews with the team.

III. Team Leadership

• Lead a team of construction engineers, supervisors, and subcontractors across all disciplines.
• Assign responsibilities and monitor the performance of the team to ensure high efficiency.
• Foster a collaborative environment between contractors, consultants, and stakeholders.

IV. Stakeholder Coordination

• Serve as the primary on-site representative for the client and coordinate closely with EPC contractors and consultants.
• Facilitate communication between project stakeholders, including design, procurement, and commissioning teams.
• Attend progress review meetings with clients and stakeholders, providing updates on construction status.

V. Documentation & Reporting

• Maintain accurate records of construction progress, resource utilization, and any deviations.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly reports detailing construction progress, delays, and mitigation plans.
• Ensure all required documentation is submitted for final approvals and commissioning.

VI. Risk Management

• Identify risks in construction activities and develop mitigation strategies to avoid delays.
• Handle conflict resolution between contractors or team members and ensure smooth operations.
• Monitor and manage site-related environmental compliance.

VII. Commissioning & Handover

• Collaborate with commissioning teams to ensure smooth transition from construction to commissioning.
• Verify readiness of systems and equipment for testing and commissioning activities.
• Ensure the preparation of as-built documentation and final project handover.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Civil, or Electrical Engineering
• Experience:
  • Minimum 25 years in construction and commissioning of thermal power plants.
  • At least 5 years in a leadership role overseeing projects of 150 MW or higher capacity.
• Technical Knowledge:
  • Expertise in EPC project execution, particularly in civil works, mechanical erection, and electrical installations.
  • Familiarity with power plant systems, including boilers, turbines, generators, BOP, and auxiliary equipment.
  • Proficiency in construction management tools such as MS Project, Primavera, or similar.

TUNNELLING MACHINE OPERATOR (CONSTRUCTION)

Required to be experienced in operations of TBM machine, excavation and ring building, tunnel pipe roofing.

• Prepare tunnel progress reports, and other tunnel-related documentation.
• Prepare and carry out the presentation of tunneling works prior to the commencement of works.
• Plan and monitor and track site progress, manpower mobilization, and equipment deployment.
• Conduct daily site inspection and supervision of bored tunneling works.
• Supervision work on a TBM machine controlling the tunnel labor in excavation and ring build.
• Maintain site records of excavated volumes, grouting records, and other construction work.
• Providing technical advice and suggestions for improvement on tunnel projects.
• Diagnosing and troubleshooting equipment as required.
• Resolve any unexpected technical difficulties and other problems that may arise.
• Drawing up work schedules and communicating any adjustments to crew members and clients.
• Delegating tasks and scheduling meetings and training sessions where required.
• Completing quality assurance and providing feedback to the team.
• Act as the main technical adviser for tunnel projects.
• Check plans, drawings and quantities for accuracy of calculations.
• Ensure that all materials used and work performed are in accordance with the specifications.
• Oversee the selection and requisition of materials.
• Oversee quality control and health and safety matters for tunnel project.
• Prepare reports as required.

• Manage project performance, ensuring operational KPIs are met and coordinating with Project Managers.
• Prepare and present quarterly performance reports to stakeholders.
• Analyze, forecast, and monitor project costs, addressing variances and providing updates.
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and statutory/interim audits.
• Provide insights on WIP, collections, risks, opportunities, and cash flow.
• Recommend improvements in project management and reporting processes.
• Review and validate project payments and invoices.

Requirements:

• Min Degree in Finance / Accountancy or any related field
• Minimum 3 - 5 years experience in Construction or similar industry, handling various projects
