JOB SUMMARY
The Corporate Director of Technical Services (MEP) is part of the Design and Technical Services team who collectively make design and strategic decisions pertaining to the brands and properties of Capella Hotel Group. The Director is expected to manage the design development of CHG pipeline projects in accordance with brand standards, exercise leadership over a team of property Director of Engineering on mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP) and operational matters, as well as fire, life & safety (FLS) systems standards and energy/green initiatives across board.
THE ROLE
- Represent the interests of Capella Hotel Group in the execution of both Capella and Patina branded hotels with owners/developers, architects and other stakeholders; and an ambassador of Capella Hotel Group.
- For new pipeline projects, participate in the initial conceptualization and development of the hotel program, oversee the design, product development and construction progress in accordance to the standards stipulated in the specific hotel brand in accordance with the Pre-Commencement Services Agreement.
- For MEP management, remain current on industry trends, developments and technologies to ensure competitiveness and relevance; periodically review and update MEP requirements/specifications in the MEP Design Standards.
- Assist in the review of Fire, Life & Safety standards, Food Safety and Health & Hygiene policies as relate to design and operation of hotels.
- Regular review of Engineering Reports provided by operating hotels:
- Life safety systems, regular drills and trainings.
- Building security systems and controls.
- Energy efficiency optimization efforts.
- Preventive maintenance of building mechanical and physical condition.
- Schedules for yearly maintenance/repair budgets, and Capex upgrades.
- Monitor the consistent execution of individual hotel maintenance (C.A.R.E.) programs.
- Assist to formulate and implement environment sustainability programs, and manage measurable objectives that support CHG’s overall strategy.
- Provide interim support for any operating hotel during the loss and replacement of Director of Engineering, willing to be stationed over prolonged period on-site.
- Assist in Pre-opening Task Force support for any pre-opening hotel as required.
- Participate and support business development efforts with emphasis on China, willing to travel for business.
TALENT PROFILE
Qualification
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering; mechanical engineering is strongly preferred.
Work Experience
Minimum 10 years of experience, strong preference for experience in hospitality industry in Asia.
Experience in managing multi-disciplinary consultant teams from inception of project through construction completion and handover of hotels.
Ability to lead, with personal and professional integrity, a personable leader as well as a loyal follower; as a team member, collaborative, positive, creative and with a passion for excellence.
Articulate, confident communicator, fluency in spoken and written Chinese and English languages.
Technical Skills
Leadership competencies in architectural design, engineering expertise, project management and construction methodologies.
Competent computing skills: ACAD, Adobe Creative Suite & MS Office.
