The Senior Cost Accountant plays a pivotal role in overseeing all costing matters at Edmund Optics Singapore and Malaysia. Taking charge of critical responsibilities such as analyzing and resolving cost variances, performing inventory and standard cost accounting, this role demands strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a deep understanding of costing principles.

Job Description:

· Responsible for the full range of costing matters of the Malaysia & Singapore manufacturing plants using SAP ECC6/S4Hana.

· Review the factories’ current month cost variance and work with the production department to resolve variance and costing issues before closing the month-end. Analysis using SAP ECC6 and/or Power BI Dashboards

· Develop, train, implement, lead and monitor manufactory costing models and policies and make recommendations to improve/stabilize procedures and policies

· Report and analyze operational variances, including production order variances, purchase price variances, manufacturing variances inclusive of inclusive of machine, labor, and overhead.

· Perform inventory and standard cost accounting and control, participate in annual budget exercises focusing on operations

· Assist in the cost roll-up, obsolescence review for inventory, and annual WIP count

· Lead and review the cycle inventory count for the manufacturing plants and provide recommendations for process improvement.

· Assist and support in closing monthly accounts, timely submission of accurate financial reports, analysis, forecasts, financial statements, compliance with appropriate accounting standards, Transfer Pricing, and regulatory requirements.

· Analyze reports used in the quoting process to include burden and break-even analysis.

Qualifications Required:

· Minimum Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance

· At least 4 years of experience in manufacturing costing, finance and manufacturing accounting.

Skills & Abilities Required:

· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills

· Knowledge in Cost Analysis and Financial Principles.

Scope

• Reporting: Reporting to QS Manager
• Objectives: Participate in tendering process and to successfully bid for projects
• Quantity Survey: Collect data for management and analysis of cost estimation, budgeting, contract administration and procurement. (Individual Scopes follows below)
• Cost Estimation and Budgeting: Develop comprehensive and strategic cost estimates for tenders and projects, taking into account project specifications, current market rates, and labor costs. Prepare and present these estimates, transforming data into actionable insights and deliverables that meet tendering requirements and enhance the likelihood of successful bidding.
• Contract Administration: Work with Contract Manager to prepare and review contract documents, tender documents, and bills of quantities in accordance with the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) guidelines and Singapore's regulatory framework, ensuring strict compliance across work done.
• Procurement Management: Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, and/or consultants for the procurement of materials, equipment, and services, ensuring optimal cost efficiency and quality control.

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering , Sustainable Infrastructure in Building Services, Quantity Surveying or equivalent /
• Experience in MEP / HVAC / ACMV is added advantage
• Experience in Data Analysis concepts is added advantage
• Knowledge in modern digital solutions like modelling take off software, RPA, advanced Excel / Google Sheets skills, utilising AI / ML are added advantage.

Job Duties and Responsibility:

• Check and ensure Daily posting of invoices and reconcile are correct
• Follow-up with CPO on outstanding invoice issues and resolve them promptly
• Responsible and ensure receiving team follow Hotel P&P receiving processes
• Prepares Daily F&B Cost Report
• Liaise with F&B to ensure F&B Cost are within Budget
• Check and perform OC & ENT cost transfer posting
• Check, verify and perform inter-department cost transfer posting
• Check, verify and consolidate all documents for inter-hotel transfer and submit AR/ AP to bill/ make payment
• Check and consolidate all documents for Grand Shanghai to verify and submit AR to bill
• Perform Month-End Beverage Inventory Count
• Perform Mth-End closing for F&B P/L Costing posting
• Prepare pre & post P&L for BQT events as and when requires
• Prepare events package P/L costing as and when requires
• Perform Cost Analysis and verification
• Conduct and perform yearly OE inventory
• Conduct Surprise checks on F&B stocks

Job Requirement:

• Minimum Tertiary/ Diploma/ Degree or equivalent

Job Description

1. Responsible for the monthly and year-end closing for US and Singapore entities including:

- Upload Surf files as per closing deadline, clear blocking checks, submit webforms (if necessary)

- Download intercompany extract to ensure intercompany discrepancies are cleared before final Surf deadline.
