We are looking for a Principal Advisor – Credit Risk to join the Commercial Credit Risk team whose function is to offer insightful, proactive, timely and high-quality credit analysis and risk advice to facilitate sound business decisions, promote sustainable growth and protect the company’s balance sheet.

Credit Risk Analysis and Portfolio Management

• Analyse qualitative and quantitative data on new/existing counterparties and risk profile of deal/structure in order to determine and recommend credit rating, credit limit, payment terms and credit solutions for the counterparty and the deal/structure.
• Responsible for management of counterparties under assigned portfolio including credit reviews, queries on potential deals/exposures, checks on limits availability, onboarding requests, credit blocks release and credit alerts.
• Management of counterparty relationship together with BU/PG (e.g., onboarding, non-payment/default and/or any credit related events).
• Assess complex transactions in conjunction with BU/PG & functions with an aim to develop appropriate credit solutions and proper credit rights/terms in contracts.

• Monitor assigned portfolio daily using available tools/resources/market intelligence and promptly highlight any adverse credit news within the portfolio and provide early risk alert of credit events.
• Maintain close communication with BU/PG to gain a deep understanding of portfolio, in particular risk factors for the respective industry and counterparties.
• Monitor BU/PG adherence to credit limits and report all credit control breaches.
• Prepare, review and validate credit management reports including sales forecasts, credit exposure, AR aging and excess monitoring as needed by RT, credit insurers and banks.
• Ensure all credit reviews are up-to-date and all supporting documents are filed.

About you

To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:

• Degree in business studies and/or finance accounting. A post graduate degree (MBA, CPA, CFA or equivalent) and strong quantitative skills would be advantageous.
• Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience (gained as Credit Risk / Financial Analyst) in a financial institution, commodity trading or metals & mining environment.
• Working knowledge of trade finance solutions, trade credit insurance and parental/corporate guarantees.

Context:

In this role, you will report to the Chief Risk Officer, APAC. You will a key member of the APAC Credit Risk team in Singapore to ensure that all trading activities are in line with the credit risk requirements of the GEMS Risk Policy and the approved limit framework:

• Assessing credit risk and credit worthiness of APAC counterparties

• Setting, monitoring and enforcing credit risk limits

Team Summary

The Card Product group manages the deployment and optimization of Visa’s core products base consisting of Credit, Debit and Prepaid payments solutions globally. The team is also responsible for the development and deployment of innovation across this product suite. To do this, we work in close partnership with Visa clients and key internal and external stakeholders across the globe. Director, Credit Product Management (AP) does at Visa:

Reporting to the Head of Core Product Management, AP, the role-holder will be responsible for initiatives across three broad areas of responsibility:

Credit Product best practices, leading identification, development and execution of Credit product best practices to drive improvements in usage, activation and preference for Visa amongst issuers and consumers

Drive credit innovation, through leadership for the AP region, of initiatives within the Visa 2030 strategy to expand Credit across traditional credit card issuance and the provision of credit outside of credit card issuance

Purpose of the Position

Responsible for executing timely credit reviews of all counterparties and financial institutions, and for sanctioning appropriate credit limits to each party. Scope

1. Credit Risk Management (50%)

3. Liaising with other departments (20%)

• Communicate and liaise with other departments e.g. Legal and Compliance, Trade Operations and Finance and Accounting for day-to-day credit risk related activities.

• Support the credit team in RTMC by sharing best practices and knowledge

• Actively participate in the CTRM build out. i.e. credit functional inputs and testing.

4. Supervising junior staff, subordinate (10%)

• Conduct mentoring duties with the aim of transferring to junior officer knowledge of executing transactional tasks related to credit risk.

Experience

• Relevant experience in credit risk management for commodity trading houses/ financial institutions of 10 to 15 years.

• At least 4-6 years of experience in relevant industry sectors related to commodity trading will be advantageous.

• Experience with supervising/ mentoring a small team of junior subordinates will be advantageous.
