Wilhelmsen Ship Services is looking for a Port Services Engineer.
The Port Services Engineer will sell and promote Wilhelmsen Ships Service Network, products, services and concepts in a professional way in ports and terminals and to satisfy the immediate needs of our customers in the port, always making the customers aware of ongoing campaigns and providing technical support, chemical tests and product demonstrations, as required or identified as necessary.
Who you will report to:
The Port Services Engineer reports to the Port Services Manager – works closely together with the rest of the team to promote Wilhelmsen Ships Service.
What you will be doing:
PSE Main responsibilities
- Continuously promote WSS products and services to current and potential customers by use of campaign or other material and tools
- Initiate and maintain continuous contact with Ports, Terminals, Dry Docks Repair Yards and Ship’s Agents to identify opportunities and obtain information concerning Charterers, vessel arrival times, names of the Captain, Superintendents and other senior members of the crew, to communicate with them before or on arrival and provide them first class service to ensure that any order or enquiries will be given to WSS and not to an alternative local supplier
- Visit vessels upon request for specific services, assist vessel’s crew for port deliveries where applicable
- Visit vessels according to the prioritised customer category and highest global business value and sales potential
- Report back the vessel visit outcome in the system and create relevant leads
- To possess the required and defined technical competencies that is agreed with the Area Technical Sales Manager, and thus able to promote all Solutions and carry out defined services and inspections/installations
- Complete and issue relevant documentation after every visit/service on board
- Ensure that the customers experience the port service interaction as professional, valuable and pleasant
- Obtain customer feedback concerning any matters affecting customer satisfaction and report backin Salesforce, included reporting of any customer complain if necessary
- Report back to Area Technical Sales Manager(Sales)on competitor activities in the Port
- Support customer and sales force when vessels will be sold / bought (cylinder count, new orders, additional product/services needed)
PSE working for MP Operations extra responsibilities
- Received import shipment pre-alerts and documents.
- Create documentation and apply for local authorities import shipment approval (as required).
- Submit and Follow up with authorities for on time approval of shipments.
- Coordinate for the preparation of import clearance with Customs Specialist/Freight Forwarder.
- Attend MOI/Customs inspections in ports during shipment clearance as well as warehouse inspection as required.
- Maintain operation standards for customs procedures, including valuation, classification, entry review and record retention.
- Maintain a firm understanding of Dangerous Goods customs handling requirements
What you need to be successful in this role:
- Tertiary / Degree in a technical/engineering field (mechanical, engineering, maritime)
- Approximately 3-5 years’ experience in technical/ engineering / maritime field
- High intellectual curiosity and a willingness to learn
- Capability to drive an independent workstream
