Deputy Site Service Manager

Position overview
Hitachi Asia Ltd. is searching for a Deputy Site Service Manager to join the Particle Therapy Systems Division for its Proton Beam Therapy (PBT*) project at National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS).
(*) The PBT System is the most advanced radiotherapy system composed of a particle accelerator, rotating gantry and its control systems etc.
The Deputy Site Service Manager will be responsible for daily technical operation and maintenance of the PBT system installed at National Cancer Centre Singapore and will lead a team “Service and Maintenance Organization (SMO)” and supervise its activities. The Deputy Site Service Manager will be a primary contact point for the customer and Hitachi teams for any troubleshooting at site.
The Deputy Site Service Manager would ensure that the SMO works are in compliance with both the external and internal laws and regulations such as worker safety, radiation protection, technical and mechanical procedure and facility protocols. It is required electrical/mechanical knowledge and relevant work experience.
Role and responsibilities
- Lead and direct SMO and its activities.
- Plan and supervise SMO’s activities to ensure daily operation and appropriate maintenance service.
- Select and coordinate subcontractor activities including procurement and outsourcing services.
- Manage and monitor both technical and administrative records and documents.
- Respond to calls for service support and emergencies 24/7.
- Communicate and collaborate with the customer, relevant Hitachi departments and vendors.
- Perform test, inspection, adjustment and troubleshooting of PBT equipment.
- Comply with all regulatory standards and requirements such as, applicable laws, radiation safety regulations and internal policies of both Hitachi and National Cancer Centre Singapore.
- Adopt new technology, products and processes in daily operations.
- Develop a complete working knowledge of PBT system.
- Teach the team while doing the maintenance work together.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in English and Japanese (N1 level) to support and communicate on a technical level with the system specialist located in Japan.
- Must have at least bachelor’s degree or Technical Certification in Engineering or a related discipline in Electrical, Mechanical, Field Measurement, etc.
- Ability to work at 10+ meters height and to lift up to 20kg repeatedly and safely.
- Willingness to work in a radiational environment and to perform testing, inspection and maintenance of the system at height, and both inside & outside of the equipment.
- With basic knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel and latest PC technology.
- Effective skills in communication, problem-solving, and organizational management.
- Ability to work on shifts and on-call duty: this position is 24 hours and 7 days on-call duty.
- Minimum 5 years experience in the following :
- Site Manager
- Management of team and its activities
- Mechanical, electrical and control system
- Maintenance or QA/QC of industrial plants, medical devices or nuclear power equipment
- Familiarity with working in area of high-voltage, radiation and electromagnetic.
- Proficient level in reading and interpreting various engineering documents (schematics, wiring, diagrams, piping diagrams, etc.) and using electronic test and measurement instruments (DVM, oscilloscope, micrometers, etc.)
- Leadership experience in cross-functional team.
