ROLE DESCRIPTION SUMMARY

A Systems Engineer (Solutions)interfaces with customers and identifies their needs. A Systems Engineer (Solutions)with then work with various departments from network engineers, support and operations to ensure a plan is in motion to improve the customer's experience. A Systems Engineer (Solutions)works to balance various aspects of the project, from safety to design. Additionally, a Systems Engineer (Solutions)researches advanced technology regarding best practices in the field and seek to find cost-effective solutions.

Performs a subset of the system engineering activities required to develop a solution or product.

Analyses the customer’s and other stakeholders’ needs whatever the used means (e.g. advanced studies, simulations, mock-ups, models, prototypes, …)

- Describes the missions, functions and requirements on the sub-system

- Formalises the specification and the architectural design to develop the sub-system

- Prepares and performs the solution or product integration, verification and validation tests.

KEY KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electronics Engineering or related discipline (essential)
• Higher degree qualifications are desirable.
• Demonstrated engineering competencies required for qualification to INCOSE CSEP (or equivalent, or ASEP) are highly desirable.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in an Engineering role
• Able to decipher technical scope from high level requirements

• Strong oral and written communications skills.

As a Senior Controls Engineer at Amperesand, you will be a vital part of our engineering team, responsible for designing and implementing control algorithms and systems that optimize the performance, efficiency, and reliability of our power converters. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, including hardware and software engineers, to ensure seamless integration of control solutions into our products. Duties and Responsibilities

• Serve as a technical expert for one or more control subsystems or features, capable of independent decision making for critical technical issues.
• Applies broad knowledge in sensors, power electronics control algorithms, software, signal processing, and data analysis methods and tools to drive power converter control system improvements to enable improved converter efficiency, minimize losses and increased power density of converter systems.
• Leads the development and integration of innovative control system solutions to enable stable, efficient, and reliable production of grid tied power converters
• Leads the design and building of tools that allow debugging, analysis, and evaluation of control system performance. Leads the root cause analysis for control system failures in products for integration and fielded units during escalations.
• Perform PCB design, test and evaluation on specific control circuit board including gate driver, microcontroller board and others.
• Conduct various device characterizations including design and development of verification test systems.
• Performs integration activities including troubleshooting the control system, designing and executing test plans and test automation, to ensure the algorithms functions as designed.
• Documents work results with requirements, design specifications, procedures, and training materials.
• Mentors junior engineers.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Control System Design: Lead the design and development of advanced control systems for power converters, considering factors such as efficiency, stability, and grid integration.
• Algorithm Development: Develop control algorithms and strategies for power converters to improve dynamic response, fault tolerance, and performance.
• Modeling and Simulation: Create mathematical models and perform simulations to validate control system designs and optimize performance.
• Software Implementation: Collaborate with software engineers to implement control algorithms in embedded software and firmware.
• Testing and Validation: Design and execute test plans to validate control system performance and robustness.
• Hardware Integration: Work closely with hardware engineers to ensure seamless integration of control electronics with power converter hardware.
• PCB Design and Development: Work closely in the PCB design activities including test and verification
• Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation of control system designs, including specifications, schematics, and test reports.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve control-related issues during development and product testing phases.
• Compliance: Ensure that control systems meet industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Mentorship: Provide guidance and mentorship to junior controls engineers.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience in controls engineering, with a focus on power electronics or similar fields.
• Proficiency in control system design, analysis, and simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink).
• Strong programming skills in languages such as C/C++ for embedded systems.
• Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing and control system validation.
• Knowledge of grid integration, grid codes, and power quality standards is a plus.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

• Overall in charge for all site coordination relating to mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP) matters of the project. Overall responsible for all the MEP works installation and progress of work to meet contractual and specifications requirements.
• Leading in design coordination with consultants / client and authorities.
• Attend client, consultants and sub-con meetings.
• Review of shop drawings / materials / Method of Statements.
• To ensure drawing registry is maintained and latest drawings / BIM models are available for all parties involved (site staff, suppliers and subcontractors). To ensure transmittal forms / emails are issued for latest drawings / BIM models.
• Ensure that all the submittals are carried out timely and closely monitoring the progress and status.
• Resolve technical issues on drawings and liaise closely with all trades and authorities.
• Take lead in VDC for MEP related matters. Cross check BIM model with contract drawings and other disciplines, such as architectural, structural, etc.
• Review of contract documents and scope of works.
• Establish and implement quality control measures for MEP works after consulting with PM and Quality and Service Dept.
• To work with PM and Site Manager in planning and executing temporary works, in particular, the temporary services.
• To ensure all MEP submissions (as-built, COS etc) are done for RI (M&E) and TOP. To ensure that the project is ready for the RI and TOP inspections.
• Other ad-hoc duties as assigned by the immediate supervisor / management.

Job Requirements:

• Degree in Electrical Engineering /Mechanical Engineering /Building Service.
• Candidate with proficiency in BIM software such as Autodesk Revit will have added advantage.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience in coordination and supervision of MEP works in local building construction. Preferably in high rise building projects.
• Good knowledge of MEP specifications, code of practices, standards and BCA quality requirements.
