Overview

The Psychology and Child & Human Development (PCHD) Department at the NIE comprises of a team of educators, psychologists and counsellors passionate about the application of psychology to general education, as well as the specialized domains of psychology, counselling, early childhood education and special needs education. We have a strong focus on teaching and innovative pedagogy, and a research culture that views psychology as an integrative discipline to help us advance our understanding of human thought and behavior to help individuals adapt and learn at their best.

We invite suitably qualified applicants to apply for faculty positions in Special Education. This position provides the opportunity to teach undergraduate and postgraduate students in the specialisation areas of special needs education and to pursue research in areas of special needs education.

Requirements

Successful candidates must have:

• A doctorate degree in a relevant field, preferably with specialization in special needs education
• Applicants will be in a position of added advantage if he or she is familiar with the Singapore
• education system
• Evidence of outstanding teaching and their innovative uses of technology
• Evidence of research in the areas of special needs education
• A strong commitment to and aptitude for teaching at both undergraduate and graduate levels
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Full membership in a national psychological association or society (e.g., Singapore Psychological Society, American Psychological Association, Australian Psychological Society, Malaysian Psychological Association, etc.) or be eligible for full membership
• Willingness to understand and support the work of colleagues beyond one’s niche area of expertise

Responsibilities

Successful candidates will be expected to:

• Teach existing and new courses at undergraduate and higher degree levels, as well as preservice and in-service teacher education courses, more specifically in teacher training and professional
• development in special needs education
• Engage in research that informs policy and practice
• Develop a research agenda and programme, and to publish in reputable journals as is customary in his/her field
• Establish professional connections with local and international researchers and practitioners involved in his/her specific areas of expertise
• Share expertise with NIE colleagues through various platforms
• Undertake administrative and/or leadership roles and to contribute to other service-related activities at the departmental and Institutional levels
• Engage in programme leadership and curriculum design and development

1. You are someone who has at least 3 years of full-time wortking experience with at least 1 year of experience in organizing events from beginning to the end as a project leader

2. You are independent and proactive in getting things done without much supervision. You are honest, meticulous, responsible and mature in personality
3. You can work over weekends once every month and able to work in weekday evenings around once/twice per month (We love the moon and the stars) and you will be compensated with off-in-lieu.

Job Descriptions:

• Organize all logistics (facility, catering, materials, Learning Management System, pre-work, access processes, etc.) linked to offering classroom, virtual, or digital courses
• Support Training Manager in the administration of LMS for the L&D function.
• Communicate course information to participants and address their queries in a timely manner
• Manage vendors & procurement process (adding new vendors, payments, reconciliations) in a timely and compliant manner
• Manage internal financial processes (billing to participants, accruals, other reporting) in a compliant and timely manner
• Leverage existing tools and resources to accurately record and track completion of key performance indicators (incl. Learning Management System, Learner Experience Platform, etc.)
• Support Company training committee crucial role in identifying training needs, developing tailored training programs, and ensuring that employees have the necessary skills to excel in their roles
• Maintain records and reporting in accordance with applicable procedures and guidelines (incl. course rosters, certification processes)
• Overall monitor key metrics and data points (course enrollments, compliance & regulatory of training) and flag trends for decision making
• Overall key member of the delivery arm of Aerospace Learning; provide insights into improving participant experiences, simplifying processes and supporting effective and efficient delivery of courses.
• Experience in Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul (MRO) is beneficial.
  Provides administrative support and ensures regulatory compliance for government-funded projects.
  

Job Requirements:

• Diploma or Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university or polytechnic.
