The Early Mental Potential & Wellbeing Research Centre’s mission is to maximise every child’s mental and emotional capital by uplifting neurodevelopmental trajectories during early sensitive periods through interdisciplinary discovery science and translational technologies.

Toward this aim, we engage in 3 major activities and thrusts:

1) Core Discovery Research, Empowering Science: Basic neuroscience research and advanced computational models to understand individual neurocognitive potential, developmental trajectories, and risk and resilience factors;

2) Translation to Clinic & Pedagogy, Empowering Practitioners: Developing precision assessment and intervention tools to optimise parent-child social and mental health within clinical, education and community settings;

We are looking for an experienced Research Fellow to contribute toward data collection and analysis, including both behavioural and brain imaging studies.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate is expected to be:

• Contribute toward the conceptualization and design of research studies.
• Plan, execute, and oversee experiments
• Assist with analysis of infant data, which may include both EEG and MRI/MRS data.
• Supporting wider recruitment and testing efforts
• Manage timelines, resources, and project milestones to ensure deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.
• Provide scientific and technical input to hypothesis generation, experimental design and execution, and result analysis.
• Provide assistance for writing of report, patents and journal manuscripts.
• Presentation of research projects as required.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior researchers and students involved in the project.
• Performs any other related duties as assigned by the Principal Investigator.

Job Requirements:

• PhD degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering, Medical Sciences or related Technical and Computational fields
• Experience with human psychological data collection, working with children (particularly infants) and families
• Efficient, organised and self-motivated with the ability to work to tight deadlines
• Good team player with strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Experience with EEG and other brain imaging techniques
• Skills in programming and/or computational analysis of data
• Interest in parent-child social interaction and the early development of executive functions and cognition

1. Research Administration

• Assist in requests for external collaborations, work with Sr/Manager CRU, Director CRU/ Dy Director CRU/ Specialty Advisory Group Advisors to identify suitable Principal Investigators
• Assist in the review of research collaborative agreements, project agreements
• Assist in grant management and administration e.g. collation and tracking of grant submissions, budget planning and utilization tracking, claims submissions
• Coordinate and assist in submission of research proposals for ethics and research funding
• Monitor research activities and outcomes
• Prepare research reports
• Assist in supervising temporary research data collection and data entry/ transcription staff
• Assist in departmental budget planning and utilization tracking
