Overview:

Site supervisors or Construction Supervisor ensure the safe and timely completion of construction projects. They oversee everyone working on a construction site, which includes members of the construction team and any subcontractors. In this role, it's your responsibility to make sure each individual has the necessary resources to complete their tasks and to monitor and ensure they perform their duties effectively and in compliance with industrial health and safety regulations. Common site supervisor duties include:

• managing construction personnel and delegating tasks to meet deadlines
• performing regular inspections of the construction site
• identifying potential safety hazards and managing them accordingly
• ensuring all personnel comply with health and safety practices, such as wearing the appropriate protective equipment
• organising work schedules
• checking work techniques are correct and safe

Site supervisors perform most of their duties on outdoor construction sites, which means facing all types of weather. Supervisors and general foremen in building and related trades supervise activities of a distinct unit at a construction site, control and coordinate the activities of workers who are engaged in various occupations.

Tasks include:

• Interpreting specifications and job orders
• Determining sequence of operations and use of equipment
• Estimating manpower requirements
• Assigning duties to workers
• Analysing and resolving work problems
• Coordinating the work of one or more units with other units
• Recommending or initiating personnel action
• Supervising co-workers and helping them in their work
• Oversee the construction activities and progress, plan, implement and monitor work
• Schedule in accordance to the master and detailed work programme
• Liaise with Professional Engineer on the Temporary works
• Liaise with consultants (QPS) for technical issues and coordinate the site activities with subcontractors
• Handle of technical and engineering problems
• Maintain quality standards, carry out site inspections and resolve technical issues on time
• Prepare report and method statement whenever necessary
• Manage and control site safety and neat
• Supervise ongoing site activities closely.

Requirements and skills

Construction General Foreman Requirements:

• High school diploma or similar.
• Bachelor's degree in construction, business, management, or engineering preferable.
• Experience in the construction industry required.
• Experience in a leadership role recommended.
• Valid driver's license.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to focus and keep calm under pressure.
• Ability to keep track of multiple projects.

Negotiating with suppliers and vendors to ensure the best contracts. Authorizing technical drawings and engineering plans. Drawing up work schedules and communicating any adjustments to crew members and clients.Gathering data, compiling reports and delivering presentations to relevant stakeholders.Delegating tasks and scheduling meetings and training sessions where required.Completing quality assurance and providing feedback to the team

Be proficient in the use of company tools.Perform housekeeping duties around the jobsite and Company premises.Capable of working at heights.Complete detailed Daily Work Report.WACEL Concrete or Soils, and Hazmat certifications desired.Observing, testing and sampling soils. aggregates, concrete and asphalt according to applicable standards.Quality control of work performed.Clean and maintain integrity of Company tools and equipment.Operate all Company equipment.Loading and unloading trucks.Preparing field reports and assisting with laboratory testing.Demonstrate an ability and willingness to learn all aspects of thermal/moisture protection. Daily interaction with clients and team members.Understand and demonstrate safe work practices. Interacting with contractors, clients, and GTA personnel to evaluate site conditions and participate in work progress meetings
