ACMV Design/Site Engineer - Job Description

1. System Design: Create and optimise air-conditioning and mechanical ventilation systems, including load calculations and equipment selection.

ACMV Engineer Minimum Requirements

1. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; a diploma with extensive experience may be considered.

2. Professional Accreditation: Registration with the Professional Engineers Board (PEB) Singapore; Green Mark Accredited Professional (GMAP) is advantageous.

3. Experience: 3-5 years of relevant experience in HVAC or ACMV design, preferably within Singapore.

4. Technical Skills: Proficiency in HVAC design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit MEP); strong understanding of Singapore's SS 553, SS 530, and SS 531 standards.

5. Regulatory Compliance: Knowledge of local building codes, fire safety regulations, and BCA standards, including Green Mark Certification requirements.

6. Soft Skills: Strong communication, problem-solving, and project management abilities.

Able to assist in tender pricing of ACMV project/ Alteration & Additional Work.

2. Data Entry for the project material delivery, Bill of Quantity and Tender Pricing.

3. Serves as liaison between the user and in-house contractor on all ACMV related system.

4. Provide sizing and design of ACMV system (chilled water) for individual room

5. Coordinate with supplier / sub-contractor of the tender specification and obtain the quotation from them

6. Control and supervise workmen to make sure standards of building performance, quality, time and cost schedules, and safety are complied.

7. Responsible for keeping daily work record, including additional work claims to the clients and from the subcontractors

Purpose of Role:

This person is responsible for ship electrical detail design activities and able to process basic design information to expand the function design into production information for the marine vessel.

This role shall perform engineering of electrical and navigation equipment to the related platform equipment, as well to interface with Ship Management System (SMS). The scope includes :

o Main Power generation and distribution system network and architecture

o Integrated electric propulsion systems, Power management systems

o Engineering integration between ship equipment / Ship Monitoring system with Electrical power generation

4. Value engineering, lean engineering and selection of equipments

5. Liaising with main contractor, owner, stakeholder & consultant

6. Check and ensure the scope of work for all the fire protection system and services

7. Prepare weekly, monthly report and project budget

8. Overseeing current project as well upcoming projects

9. Attend and conducting project review and attend meeting

10. Ensure the project delivery as planned schedule and manage operational cost within the budget

11. Prepare and submit authority required documents

12. Monitor compliance of work with the workplace safety and health regulations

13. Maintain customer relationship

14. Knoweldge in AUTO CAD & Revit

Responsibilities:

• Mentor a team of engineers in Basic design to carry out Hull form and General arrangement development, Hydrodynamic and stability calculations for a tender or ongoing projects.
• Assist in the development of new products.
• Support other in-house departments and external parties, where required, by providing specialist technical advice and information.
• To generate list of drawing/document specific to each project.
• Prepare technical specifications for equipment procurement (e.g. major deck equipment) and perform technical evaluation of vendor’s bid.
• Carry out naval architectural calculations, hydro dynamic analysis, stability calculations.
• Prepare and review layout arrangement in accordance with building specification, rules, and regulations (fire, watertight integrity, accommodation layouts…)
• Manage and check technical information of external suppliers of equipment and systems and coordinate/cooperate with engineers from other trades in the organization.
• To check and approve calculation/drawings and material list and ensure that they conform to contractual technical specifications, installation control documents, Classification and Statutory Rules/Regulations.
• Participate in tests and trials, where required.
• Liaise with ship owners and surveyors.
• Ensure that all design issues raised by owner, Class and Flag on drawings and documents are timely and properly captured in Action Item Register for follow-up actions.
• Keep abreast with current technological developments and products.
• Keep abreast with Classifications Rules, military and industrial standards relevant to design activities.

Requirements:

• Degree in Naval Architecture/ Marine Engineering or Structural Engineering from a recognized University
• Strong knowledge of international design codes, Classification/Statutory Rules, and Regulations.
• Possess Engineering Design and Project Management skills
• Strong Leadership and Interpersonal skills to manage assigned team members and other stakeholders
• Strong experience in Naval architecture, Structure, Outfitting, Accommodation design
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Aveva Marine, NAPA, Microsoft office, Rhino 3D, CFD software knowledge
• High proficiency in 3D modeling skills using 3D CAD software will be an advantage.
• At least 10 years’ experience in engineering design in Marine/Offshore/Oil & Gas industry or Classifications Societies
