HOYA Technosurgical, is a subsidiary of HOYA Corporation, established in Tokyo, Japan in 2013, which has the origin of PENTAX medical business unit in 1974 arising from the merger of former PENTAX medical business unit & Japan Universal Technologies, Inc. HOYA Technosurgical has set up their first overseas plant in Singapore focusing on manufacturing, research & development and sale of Chromatography Media to pharmaceutical companies.
Reporting Relationship
Reporting to this position: Process Engineer Team Size: 5 – 10 Process Engineers
Main Purpose of Job
- Supervise the technology and engineering related to the overall manufacturing process.
- Lead the assessment, implementation, development and improvement of individual unit processes.
- Supervise engineering work for production support activity for chemical manufacturing for productivity and yield improvement, cost reduction, improvement testing/ problem-solving testing.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
• Participate in the design of business planning and factory operations planning and execution based on business project
• Establish Production design instructions and adjustments of manufacturing schedule based on factory operation plan and received orders
• Develop and recommend corporate manufacturing policies and procedures consistent with corporate objectives
• Direct production of all company products consistent with established cost control methods, quality standards and master schedule requirements to support business strategy
• Research, evaluate and recommend investments in technology, capital equipment, systems or other assets that will enhance the organisation’s manufacturing capabilities
• Direct installation and maintenance of all processing equipment used in manufacturing
• Direct the preparation of specifications for purchase as to quality, quantity, delivery and service required for purchase of plant equipment, supplies and materials to meet production schedules and quality standards
• Drive down cost of goods through the initiation and implementation of process improvements in equipment and procedures
• Coordinate manufacturing activities to ensure smooth production of products
• Establish production budgets, monitor the cost and effectiveness of production activities to optimise resources, prioritise spendings, and achieve volume, quality, and manufacturing standards
• Manage quarterly and annual budget reviews to ensure all material and labour cost are included in the factory’s projected budget and spending within budget
• Review vendor contracts, negotiate terms, conditions and pricing for single and multi-build products
• Provide coaching and support to develop the knowledge and skills of all production personnel
• Make decisions on key estimates and factory projects
Facility Management
• Overall in charge of plant facilities operations including equipment installation, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, EHS in compliance with relevant regulations and authorities
• Ensure smooth production and operations in the plant to meet production targets and customer delivery timelines
Education
• Degree in Business Administration, Chemical Engineering, or relevant qualifications
Experience
• 10-15 years’ experience in the management position in chemical / biomedical / pharmaceutical industry
• Proficient in English. Ability to speak in Japanese is an advantage
