Responsibilities
As a network engineer, you'll need to:
- Establish the networking environment by designing system configuration, directing system installation and defining, documenting and enforcing system standards
- Design and implement new solutions and improve resilience of the current environment
- Implementation of Network devices; ASA appliance 5555-X and 5585-X, Juniper Net screen & (including virtual firewall contexts) , Checkpoint Firewall, Alcatel switches, HP Aruba switches
- Implementation of Cisco Data & Security Devices; ASDM, CSM and DCNM
- Implementation of Servers; AAA, SNMP, Syslog, NTP, DHCP, FTP, DNS, IPS, VPN, AAA, DNS, DHCP, load balancers
- Implementation of Cisco Routers and Switches Catalyst 6500,4500,3750,2960 & 3560 Series
- Implementation and support of Cisco Nexus switches, N9000, N7000, N5000, Nexus2000 and Software Defined Networking (SDN) Cisco Aci, Cisco Viptela.
- Implementation of HP Aruba routers and switches.
- Implementation of Alcatel routers and switches.
- Experience in implementation of Wireless Environment with WLAN Controller
- Experience in implementation of Access Control
- Maintains inventory of equipment and parts as well as documentation of vendor activates
- Develop and documents systems standards for computer and network device
- Recommend and schedule repairs to the LAN/WAN and ensure timely user notification of maintenance requirements and effects on system availability
- Strong networking background and experience, with the ability to do troubleshooting of both access control and network related problems
- Troubleshoot networks, system, and applications to identify and correct malfunction; other operational difficulties and provide support to internal and external users
- Network consulting for new projects for goverment, commercial and ISP customers
- Maximise network performance by monitoring performance, troubleshooting network problems and outages, scheduling upgrades and collaborating with network architects on network optimisation
- Undertake data network fault investigations in local and wide area environments using information from multiple sources
- Secure network systems by establishing and enforcing policies, and defining and monitoring access
- Support and administer firewall environments in line with IT security policy
- Report network operational status by gathering and prioritising information and managing projects
- Upgrade data network equipment to the latest stable firmware releases
- Configure routing and switching equipment, hosted IP voice services and firewalls
- Provide remote support to on-site engineers and end users/customers during installation
- Provide remote troubleshooting and fault finding if issues occur upon initial installation
- Undertake capacity management and audit of IP addressing and hosted devices within data centres
- Liaise with project management teams, third-line engineers and service desk engineers on a regular basis
- Provide consultancy and support of maintenance of the network authorization infrastructure as well as network backup system to network maintenance team
Network Engineer Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or diploma in computer science, networking administration, information technology, or a similar field.
At least 0 to 1 years' experience as a network engineer.
Detailed knowledge of Cisco networking systems.
Experience with storage engineering, wide-area networking, and network virtualization.
Advanced troubleshooting skills.
Ability to identify, deploy, and manage complex networking systems.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Experience with end-user training.
