About the role
To run R&D, product development activities and projects related to aerogel such as paints and fire resistant coatings, boards, blankets and other innovation solutions for commercial thermal insulation applications for various industries such as Oil and Gas, Built and Environment, Marine and Offshore and Electric Vehicles. As a core member, it has a pivotal role in shaping the technology, developing the core products together and defining the vision of the company.

Working Days: 5 days a week
Time: 9 - 6 pm
Basic Salary ranges from $4500 to $7000 (Depending on qualifications and experience).

Roles & Responsibilities
- Establish R&D procedures and work processes.
- Manage laboratory day-to-day operations including lab organization, laboratory facilities, and safety protocols.
- Stay up to date with scientific literature/patent, brainstorm new ideas with founders and contribute to the intellectual property of the company.
- Development of new and/or improved product formulation to meet customers requirements.
- Work closely with business team and customers/industry partner for pilot trials, implement their feedback and improve existing product to achieve customer specification.
- Development of a suitable manufacturing process for the product formulation.
- Production of sample batch in lab scale and pilot scale.
- Responsible for effective technology transfer and upscaling to commercial scale batches
- Work closely with process engineers to validate manufacturing methods for production scale batches.
- Train production personnel on manufacturing processes.
- Source and evaluate new raw materials for formulation improvement to roll out new variants.
- Monitors the progress of stability study for R&D samples.
- Develop technical specifications, datasheets for commercial and R&D products.
- Trouble-shooting in the areas of formulation and process for routine production.
- Provides documentation to support registration of products with regulatory authority.
- To ensure the quality of product is in accordance with the specification.
- To ensure that products are produced, stored according to the appropriate documentation and monitor storage conditions for materials and products in order to obtain or maintain the required quality.
- To implement quality control framework for commercial products such as COA and COC.
- To ensure that company is always updated with the regulatory requirements.
- To establish and maintain Good Manufacturing Practices for all R&D and commercial projects.
- Mentor and manage junior staff.
- Prepare progress update and presentations
- To ensure all GMP quality related record are kept properly
Requirements
- A minimum of bachelors degree in chemical engineering, chemistry, materials science/engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years' experience with track record in formulating / developing new coating products with commercial release.
- Experience working with various types of solvent free, water based and solvent-based coatings /paint chemistry is advantageous.
- Leadership abilities, problem solving skills and a good communicator
- Experience in paint additive chemistry
- Project Management expertise
- Experience in industrial coating performance standards such as ISO, ASTM., etc.
- Ability to drive innovation and creativity in a team setting
- Experience in nanotechnology or surface coatings is a plus
- Ambitious, confident, curious and decisive amidst ambiguity and uncertainty
