As Head of Engineering, you will oversee all engineering and IT matters across the venture portfolio. You are responsible for the technology approach with key stakeholders, business units, technology partners and suppliers. This is a hands-on cross functional role where, you will develop and lead the engineering strategy, team, governance, security and IT administration as part of Mandai X’s internal acceleration guild and corporate services.
You will need to juggle strategic alignment, talent, stakeholder management, IT governance in addition to ensuring engineering velocity, quality, and security standards are in place.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
· Create and execute a technical strategy that enables the engineering function to be a creative force and key driver of venture success.
· Establish engineering capabilities, governance, architecture, security standards and policies.
· Develop and run the engineering function from venture and platform applications to back-end office support.
· Own the engineering and IT budget, resourcing and prioritization efforts across ventures and platform capabilities.
· Lead the engineering talent strategy (e.g. hiring, partnerships) across ventures.
· Mentor and coach the MX engineering team members to continually improve their impact. Work alongside them to make key venture technology decisions, increase cross-venture learning, and reduce duplicate work.
· Build and own the technical platform that enables individual ventures to launch and scale.
· Be the bridge between Mandai X and Mandai IT. Ensure compliance with security and privacy policies while minimizing the impact on venture velocity.
· Any other relevant duties as assigned.
Job Requirements
· Masters/Bachelor degree in Information Technology/Engineering/Computer Science
· Can-do attitude - pragmatic yet convincing and able to navigate the organization and effectively build relationship at all levels.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced ever-changing environment and handle ambiguity.
· Familiar with cloud-based solutions, continuous delivery, platform engineering, observability, and infrastructure as code
· Solid understanding of solution design and architecture from MVP to Enterprise Scale
· Ability to lead development hands-on, if needed
· Minimum 10 years of experience with at least 5 years in shipping digital products and services globally
· Minimum 5 years in a leadership role
· Previous experience in a startup or innovation/venture building department/studio
· Bonus points if you have experience in gaming, edutainment and/or sustainability, tourism, or conservation industry background.
