Strategic Direction and Development

• Direct each student towards appropriate resources; ensure that the student has regular access to and is familiar with the assessment criteria and corresponding descriptors for all assessed components.
• Liaise with any external tutors and ensure that they have access to all relevant information concerning course structure, content and assessment; ensure that they have access to past examination papers and mark schemes and any other relevant materials or resources; meet periodically with external tutors to discuss progress.
• Advise students on choosing a course of study which conforms to IB regulations and where possible has world literature elements in common with English and other Languages A; ensure that students have access to the books and materials chosen/required before starting the course of study.
• Meet with students to monitor progress; advise the IB Coordinator of students’ progress, including reporting.
• Organize and oversee the conduct of assessments and recording of any oral assessment/examinations in collaboration with the IB Coordinators.
• Liaise with EAL teachers (who supervises students in mainstream classes), tutors, students and parents where there are concerns raised with regards to study/learning behaviour.
• Assist tutors in preparing course documentation for the IBMYP and IBDP.
• Monitor, in conjunction with the IB Coordinators, the eligibility of students for the IBMYP and IBDP Home (Mother Tongue) option in accordance with IB developments.
• Provide a course structure showing which texts are to be studied at what time in what order, in tandem with the Language A SL course; liaise with the IBDP Coordinator to ensure that the timing and structure of the course meets the IBDP Coordinator’s deadline requirements.
• Supervise the work required for the World Literature component and ensure submission of world literature assignments to the IBDP Coordinator in keeping with school deadlines; where possible, arrange for attendance of students at World Literature classes in English A where common texts are studied and liaise with teachers of other Languages A and the Languages A Head of Department to develop a World Literature course with IBDP with a common “core”.

Roles and Responsibilities – English as an Additional Language

• To advise and assist the Admissions Department to interview, test and make recommendations on the enrolment of new students.
• To create class lists and data of the number of months in the EAL programme for each student and to monitor individual student progress on a regular basis.
• To be familiar with all school and department procedures as appropriate.
• To hold whole school departmental meetings as appropriate.
• To arrange and participate in professional development and in-service activities particularly as related to EAL, including peer coaching, mentor teaching and the English in a Multilingual Classroom.
• To assist in the deployment of staff in the case of staff absence, if necessary.
• To test, evaluate and monitor students’ effort and achievement in accordance with the EAL assessment and grading procedures, adjust teaching strategies accordingly and to recommend exiting of students from the EAL programme.

• To ensure that the curriculum as laid down is being taught to the students along agreed timelines, accordingly to specific planning outlines and timeframes.
• To oversee and co-ordinate progressive curriculum development in the school in general in line with requirements of IB and CIS/WASC.
• To oversee the effective and regular assessment of students work in line with the school’s policy, including achievement and placement testing as appropriate.
• To oversee the recording of student assessment and evaluate curriculum and teaching strategies accordingly.
• To assist with the placement of new students and liaise with Principals as necessary.
• To keep up to date with educational developments in their specific subject areas.
• To prepare, plan and carry out the individualized education plan for each EAL student and to adjust regular classroom strategies as necessary.

• To contact parents on a regular basis to report progress, changes and/or difficulties based on the individual lesson plans.
• To collaborate with subject teachers in the development of EAL appropriate materials and methodologies.

School Organization/Administration:

Work together with the administration to enable the school to achieve its stated philosophy and its specific goals.

• To assist in the preparation and implementation of a faculty teaching timetable.
• To advise on the selection of new staff in the faculty.
• To assist in the redeployment of staff in the case of staff absence.
• To attend meetings, when required, with the Head of School, Principals, IB Coordinators, Heads of Department and Heads of Grade.
• To assist in planning for improvement to existing facilities.

School Community:

The Head of Faculty is expected to promote a positive view of the role of parents in the learning process. Whenever possible good parent school relationships should be fostered.

XCL World Academy is seeking to appoint a Secondary Years Foundational English Programme Counsellor.This is a full-time contract position, starting from August 2024.

The Counsellor will be supporting the Foundational English Programme students (FEP) who are predominantly from China, Japan and Korea, individually, in small groups or within the classroom setting to support and assist them in their academic, social, emotional, and personal development.

Identifying students’ academic and social/emotional needs, as well as providing any necessary interventions, is essential in removing barriers to learning and helping students develop skills and behaviours critical for academic achievement. The knowledge, attitudes and skills students acquire during these years build the foundation for future success. Together with the Learning Support Coordinator(s) and other learning support teachers and Administrators, they provide direct instruction for students with learning needs using a strong differentiation model.

Preference will be given to Counsellors who have a clear track record of superior counselling in international school settings.

Main Responsibilities

• Advocate, provide counselling, psychoeducational assessment and individual student support, recommendations and advice to students, teachers and parents concerning educational, behavioural, mental health and family issues.
• Work as part of a multidisciplinary team and facilitate effective working relationships and partnerships with parents, school personnel and external support agencies in order to provide a comprehensive support, case management and referral service that optimises students’ access and engagement in educational programs.

Policy Enforcement Specialists are responsible for delivering timely, accurate, and scaled Policy guidance to support the Moderation & QA teams responsible for the enforcement of our content policies. They are a critical link in our enforcement processes, working closely with cross-functional teams (Policy, Global Training, Moderation, etc) to ensure our policies are enforced in a high quality and consistent manner. They provide day-to-day support in ensuring an aligned understanding of our policies across teams, and identify and channel feedback on opportunities for improvement. - Support the Policy teams' understanding of enforcement challenges, qualify & consolidate feedback and recommendations based on end-user experience. Maintain and improve such feedback loops.

- Support Quality teams' understanding of Policy positions with timely and accurate Policy guidance, and be accountable for improvements in the consistency of their understanding

- Partnering with internal stakeholders to identify tooling, policy or operational gaps, and manage initiatives to develop new solutions, optimize existing processes, improve safety and user's experience

This highly motivated individual will be based in our APAC hub in Singapore and will work closely with the rest of the Globalization team in the US, Asia, and Europe.

Responsibilities

• Develop linguistic and cultural standards and guidelines, define quality expectations across the whole localized user experience, including supporting the development of style guides, glossaries, tone and voice of Netflix products (UI, navigation, synopses) and content (subtitle, title name localization, supplementals), games and marketing in the region.
• Monitor the linguistic quality output of Thai, Indonesian, and Malay languages (subject to adjustment depending on shifts in the relevant business signals) by using our internal MQM-based LQA model and other internal quality metrics and KPIs, and provide feedback and context to the translation teams for each of the languages/markets supported, in order to ensure the best resource fit for the highest quality impact.
• Communicate proactively with Globalization cross-functional teams to anticipate, identify, and fix linguistic, product, and subtitling issues related to the region.
• Proactively engage with relevant stakeholders in regional offices (e.g. Marketing, PR, Social) for additional context and insights on high visibility titles and to define and influence the best creative and linguistic approach for top priority content.
• Facilitate collaboration between internal stakeholders (in the region and in the US) and vendors, making sure the necessary resources have access to the relevant information, and advising on the best course of action regarding localization processes.
• Collaborate closely with other Globalization Language Managers and internal stakeholders (e.g. Globalization Program Managers, Content Acquisition teams) to collect relevant cultural and linguistic information about Netflix South East Asian International Originals and support the localization effort in bringing this content to a global audience.
• Partner with our International Dubbing team to influence the language strategy of our local language dubbed assets for Netflix branded and non-branded content in the region.
• Gain deep production knowledge and awareness of product and content data for the region and define quality expectations through research and A/B testing.
• Proactively engage with internal and regional stakeholders to drive regional product initiatives and create an optimized and consistent local experience and ecosystem for our regional members and non-members.

Role Requirements

• 10+ years of experience in managing language quality and localization programs at a strategic level - experience in entertainment localization (subtitling, dubbing, gaming) a plus.
• Strong business acumen and proven stakeholder management skills.
• Proven experience in translation, localization, and language quality management.
• Ability to show initiative, work independently, and drive initiatives at a strategic level.
• Fluency in English and native knowledge of Thai languages. Fluency in any other regional language is a plus.

Creative Campus is expanding its academic team. We are seeking like-minded, dynamic and dedicated English teachers to join us in Far East Shopping Centre and Parkway Parade.

As an English Specialist Teacher at Creative Campus, you'll have the opportunity to mentor and inspire students from Kinder to Junior College students. You use various pedagogy and teaching tools to conduct interactive and engaging classes. You will help students improve their critical thinking skills, as well as prepare them for academic challenges in their respective schools.

We're looking for teachers who have:

• A good university degree (a teaching qualification is a bonus)
• A minimum of two years of teaching experience in English
• A bubbly and outgoing personality
• A creative flair in the classroom
