Job Requirements:

·Minimum possess Diploma in Chinese Language Teaching , Chinese Studies or any related field from a recognized college or university.

·Minimum 1 year in teaching MOE syllabus Chinese language include: Primary and Secondary School Level.

·Possess previous working experiences in an education centre or MOE school are advantageous.

·Able to complete full duration of one year employment contract.

·Able to commit for both weekends.

The Role

The Preschool Educator effectively creates a secure and quality learning environment for the children through nurturing trusting and respectful relationships with them. He/She enriches children’s learning by co-designing and implementing a developmentally and culturally appropriate curricula, while effectively integrating innovative teaching and learning practices. He/She is proactive and intentional in strengthening partnerships with families and the community, and co-designs collaborative efforts with colleagues and stakeholders to achieve this goal.

As an experienced Preschool Educator, he/she guides the junior educators in enhancing their professional practice. He/She provides suggestions, ideas to improve professional development in the Centre, while also contributing to the Centre’s culture of collaboration and collegiality.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for the preparation of the classroom environment including pre-activity set up. Ensure the classroom materials are of superior quality and adequate in supply.
• To manage children between 18 months to 7 years old and provide high levels of interaction to promote critical thinking and positive attitudes towards learning.
• Supervise activities such as field visits and group discussions to stimulate children’ interest and broaden the understanding of their physical and social environment.
• Prepare Lesson Plans in line with the curriculum developed according to MOE Curriculum Framework for Kindergartens to provide multiple experiences and social interactions
• Able to demonstrate and use audio-visual teaching aids to present subject matter to class when necessary.
• Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to create new learning opportunities for children.
• Observe and monitor how and what children are learning and use the information to develop children’s developmental profile.
• Evaluate lessons conducted so as to determine what children know and are able to do which will help in planning appropriate lessons to enhance children’s development and learning.
• Provide support, warmth and emotional support for the children when needed.
• Instruct children in practices of personal cleanliness and self-care. Exhibit a sense of calm, consistency, grace and courtesy toward the children.
• Ensure the safety and well being of each individual child. Observe children to detect signs of ill health or emotional disturbance and to evaluate progress.
• Maintain an appropriate atmosphere of safety, learning, and fun, in line with YMCA’s philosophy.
• Any other duties or projects to be assigned by the immediate superior.

Requirements

• Diploma in Early Childhood Care and Education (Teaching) - Chinese Language.
• L2 Certified
• At least 1-3 Year(s) of working experience in the related field is required for this position.

LPE Singapore is an international primary school accredited by the French Ministry of national Education and offering a plurilingual educational approach in accordance with the French national curriculum. The school currently counts around 120 students from N1 to G3, and is continuing its development with the opening of the G4 and G5 levels in September 2024.

LPE Singapore is a member of French international educational group Odyssey, specialising in French education abroad with 12 schools across 11 countries.

Duties:

• Teaching in English the French Curriculum to 2 classes of primary school students
• Sharing the class with your French-speaking counterpart, planning the programme for the week together
• Closely monitoring the children and their learning progression, and reporting this information to the school director and to the families accurately
• Coordinating with the classroom Teaching Assistant (French or English speaking) for daily programme and matters
• Contributing to the development of a special pedagogical project across school, in line with the school project and the French curriculum
• Teaching the “Activités Pédagogiques Complémentaires” (APC) according to the schedule provided by the School
• Supervising morning breaks and/or afternoon breaks according to the schedule provided by the School
• Attending the team meetings according to the schedule provided by the School;
• Participating in the school’s events outside of teaching time (i.e. end of year fair, open house and gardening days), and that may occur over the weekend
• Liaising with children’s parents whenever requested (incl. regular parent-teacher meetings scheduled twice a year)
• Reporting to the School Principal

Normal working hours in the classroom (exclusive of preparation time and meetings):

Monday to Thursday: 8.15am-3.45pm

Friday: 8.15am-1pm

Job Requirements:

• Holder of the French diploma in Early Childhood (titulaire du diplôme de Professeur des Ecoles) or Diploma in Early Childhood Care & Education – Teaching (DECCE-T) or above qualification
• Minimum 3 years work experience as a teacher
• Fluent in French and English Language.
• Excellent communication and classroom management skills to work together with the team on common projects and understand and support the children who have difficulties
• Good knowledge of new technologies to work in class and in the team
• Flexible and a real team player
• Open-minded and able to think outside the box
• Proactive and dynamic
• Willing to develop pedagogical projects, in line with the school yearly project

Factors or professional experience that will stand out in your application:

• A teaching experience in a multilingual environment is preferable, in order to better understand and assimilate the unique language situations of each student;
• A practical experience of the use of communication skills through trainings / workshops or projects (drama, discussion sessions / debates…) would be a plus;
• Good knowledge of English language necessary to communicate with the team and parents;
• Any additional experience that could be an asset to the children (i.e. a sport or an artistic activity) will be considered.
